A custom tint would have finished the tint off in line with the glass (on all sides).
An el cheapo dealer job will be just that...."give us 30 minutes and we'll have it back for you". Sorry...but that's what it sounds like.
Hi, just wondering whether other VW owners have the same thing when they got their driver and front passenger side windows tinted. The tint film towards the highest corner of the window has been cut/rounded to match the round/curve of the window rubber/sealant. Is this the norm? It is only visible if the windows are half down.
Spoke to the dealer and they say that it is how all their golfs and polos are tinted. They say its to limit the film from pealing when window is wound up and down... is this correct?
My previous cars have been japanese makes and the tint has always covered the complete window with a small 2-3mm buffer around the edge of the glass.

noticed same problem here, but I am not as pedantic...
after all, it was a strip of couple mm
Fortunately this time they seem to have done the job right. The previous attempt left some bubbling so they had to re-do it.
