Hi there.
I am looking at a TSI77 comfort line with sports pack, comfort pack, leather and sun roof. We currently have a 2008 Golf GT Sport, but want something a little smaller. The Polo we are looking at has all the similar features of our current GT.
Just want to get some feedback on the Polo TSI 77 with 7 speed DSG, are there any common problems or issues, have all the issue been ironed out of the DSG?
How is the 66TDI compared to the TSI?
Any feedback appreciated.
Thanks
Kim

I have had my 77tsi DSG for over 6 months now, coming close to having 30,000km on the odo , i drive it everyday and have had no mechanical issues.
it does have the comfort pack, the climate control / air con work well and the features such as auto wipers, auto dim rear vision mirror make it feel just that much easier to live with.
the only warranty issue i have had (plus many other 77tsi owners) is the rattle that appears from where the windscreen meets the dash on the drivers side, my car is an april 2010 build, so you would hope vw has come up with a fix for models produced since then or recently. all it consists of is the fuel line moving around inside the chassis.
The standard suspension is a good compromise between comfort and handling.......... most road testers prefer the handling of the 1.2tsi due to less weight over the front axle than the 1.6TDI.
Having driven a 1.6 tdi before it felt almost gutless compared to the 1.2tsi, the 1.2 is such a responsive engine, im never left thinking that it needs more power.
The 7 speed DSG has it quirks, its a transmission you need to learn how to drive to get the best out of it, given a few days at most.
Next: Mk 5 Golf R32 (in blue please)
Now: 2014 Skoda Yeti 90tsi Ambition TECH PACK
Had: 2012 ABARTH 500 esseesse
Had:2010 77tsi DSG7, Comfort Pack, Reflex silver
Second the above comments We have a later build and havent noticed the rattle but have a light tapping like a loose washer in the left rear.
Sort of a tinkling sound and its damned annoying.
Car goes like a rocket, handles Ok
Fuel consumption is excellent.
Did a trip from Brisbane to Coffs Harbour and back, travelling at the speed limit and above at times and got 5.1l per 100km.
Cant ask for more than that
When we first got it it idled rough when cold, sort of shuddered like it was trying to move.
Took it back and the software was upgraded and it is much better but still is a little rough when cold.
Ours is just a plain one as they didnt have a comfort pack in Red when wife was buying.
They were scarce at the time and it was just going to be the shopping trolley anyway
We have the Sports Pack. Aesthetically and performance (suspension) wise...it's the best bang for buck option you could tick. Didn't opt for the Comfort Pack, as it was extra $$$s (can't remember the option cost) for auto wipers and dimming rear mirror. I can live without that. Opted for the RCD510 with MDI....definitely worth it. Would have loved to have scored the sunroof, but was not an available option when we purchased/ordered our car (Ordered Jun 2010).
Cannot fault the fuel economy. Simply brilliant. Performance wise, if you push the go pedal, the car responds quite well, surprisingly for a 1.2lt. The turbo and engine design is a work of art in so far as getting excellent power/acceleration/economy from it. We drove the TDI but I wasn't excited about the motor. The (marginally) better fuel economy just didn't provide the economical return via the wallet to justify the premium you'd pay to have the Diesel engine.
In summary...you will not be disappointed. Big car feel from an excellent 'little' car.

Its a great car..I love My Polo TSI. Hmmm bit concerned about this one running rough in the cold? I recently been in Munich for a holiday and rented the exact same Polo TSI as i have in australia and it was -10.....I had no issues whatsoever....that is interesting....i would be having a rather long winded chat with the dealership
having driven both (and being a diesel fan) i would highly recommend the 77tsi over its diesel counterpart - people are always going to have mixed experiences with the DSG box, so that aside, the tsi is the winner here:
- light engine = great dynamics
- VERY impressive pull for a 1.2 turbo - shows that looking at power/torque figures on paper, and measuring a car's ability by that, is fast becoming a redundant practice
- petrol is always cheaper than diesel, yet the mfd on the car i test drove showed similar fuel economy under normal driving
- no DPF to shart itself somewhere down the track, only to be replaced at $7,000 or whatever they charge.
bloody awesome little cars, they are.
Went to fill my wife's Polo up today. Then slotted over to the side of the servo to check the tyre pressures. I was waiting for the old boy with the Toyota Coronary to check hbis tyre pressures. When he'd finished, he was putting the hose back on it's hook, when I said:
"She's right...I'll take it, thanks"
(He): "Will it reach to your car from here?"
(Me): "Well, only one way to find out"
(He): "Is that one of those new VW things?"
(Me): "Yep...Polo."
(He): "What size motor has it got...betcha it's a sewing machine."
(Me): "1.2lt Turbo...it goes, trust me."
(He): "Manual or Auto?"
(Me): "Well, it's not manual, and it's not your everyday auto either......."
(He): "So...one of those new 'smart' gearboxes eh? Geez, I gotta say, that is one of the smartest looking cars I've seen on the road for a long time. Bloody nice."
(Me): "Cheers mate"
He nearly had an accident driving off...was still gawking at "MARCCO" instead of watching the traffic..
