Hi everyone,
My wife and I are looking at a Polo to replace our aging MKIV Golf and Jackaroo 4WD.
We would be most likely going for a 77TSI Manual in White. This will complement the 90TSI Golf we already have.
Does anyone know what sort of wait there is on standard cars (no options ticked)? Is there usually stock available?
As we are in Brisbane, does anyone have a "Good" story regarding dealings with a dealership. After the absolute horror story surrounding the purchase of the Golf I am keen to find a dealer least likely to bring my wife to tears.

Hi, thanks for that. Highway would be the closest to me anyway.
Might go and have a chat to them.

Have you had a look on carsales?
Karz.com.au is a broker based in Brisbane. I've used them twice. Angela was able to better dealers' best prices by 500, and found me a Polo GTI in a reasonable amount of time.
It wouldn't hurt to get her to give you a quote for comparison.

Ha ha, Craig the german, you are following in my footsteps, 1.6L mkIV golf into a 6R polo!
Ring around, there will be some available, don't be afraid to check with country dealers too. It might be more of a hike but hey, a long drive home to enjoy your new car, or a 12 month wait?

i would avoid Austral, horrible service, it was almost as if they didnt want me to buy from them. give Norris a shot, they took great care of me (offered horrible trade-ins though). everything went nice and smooth, sales guy, zac, was pleasant and gave me an IMO decent deal. service dept is fab, i was really picky at the start and they entertained me cheerfully, even gave me a loaner car when i dropped by on short notice. i actually saw a couple of VW with Austral stickers being serviced there... anyway, i digress.
i think it would be better to go with a budget for a stock car and see what you can get out of it. i'm sure they might be able to fit in an extremely lowly spec' car for your budget. otherwise, its gonna be a pretty long wait. 6-8 months was what they told me back in march.
