From what I heard, the 3dr was being built in Spain and the 5dr in South Africa.
    Thanks mate, handy info.
Oh well from your info, mine partly lines up regarding neither 3 or 5 door GTI coming from Germany

it doesnt make sense that VW would release a car into a market and then choke the supply! like im in the same boat as you guys but i actually dont mind waiting until midyear, it would be a nice bday present to myself but it isnt logical what they've done!

Nothing VW seem to do in relation to the Polo GTI and/or otherwise makes any sense.

VGA told me personally that they have allocated between 30 and 35 Polo GTI's a month to Australia.... There are more VW Dealerships than they allocate one car each to per month....

Basically, we are all shagged. Anyone who has been promised a delivery date will soon be told that will have changed.

You guys either have a short memory or dont remember the release of the MkV Golf GTI. EXACTLY the same thing happened. People ended up with 9 month waits. I even think it made the media in the end.

But..... you and VW make this mess by:

    1. Offering too many option combinations.
    2. Buyers who accept these stupid waits.

It would be easily sorted if VW reduced the options/combinations available and if buyers said "sorry, a 6 month wait for a fricken Polo is ridiculous... i'll buy something else"

I guess 'my' car is a little more sure delivery wise than some - it's a work lease. If you or I complain, it's one person, if a lease company complains, they tend to listen a bit more. I'm guessing that as my order is tagged 'lease' int the computer, it will get a bit of priority added for delivery, probably to the detriment of a 'private' order. I also took the step of telling the dealer and lease company that if the delivery date moves by more than 2 weeks (late, not early), I don't want the car and they were more than happy with that.

Not trying to defend the dealers [And no I definately don't work for one, or even in the industry], but I went to check on my order the other day; it is due to arrive in a few weeks and the dealer showed me the order system of key points [As they always do] and it has not been completed and the VIN still isn't available [Basically it is due to be loaded on the ship in a week or two]. As far as I am aware, the dealers only have access to that system and not some other one so really they are in the same boat as all of us waiting for our cars.

I agree. It's not the dealers fault, they are just the unfortunate 'middle man'.

VGA are useless really. They don't tell the dealers the truth about stock levels, production etc. It seems everyone is flying blind when it comes to the Polo GTI unless they asked for a stock standard build.

I remember this well & walked out shaking my head and returned 12 months later & placed an order. It took only 4 months to deliver a new built-to-order Porsche, I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation for the waiting period, but it sure doesn't make the purchase attractive.

You can walk into a Renault dealer... order a new Megane RS 250 specced as you want (2 models, recaros, leather, hid and choice of 7 colours) and it is a 12 week wait which sounds about right. 6-9 months for a polo is not right.
