Absolutely. Even though I'm eligible for the capped price servicing, I think I'd rather take it to a reputable specialist for my services and leave the warranty work (if any) up to the dealer. I don't feel as though this capped price scheme is persuading me enough at the moment..

Yeah, we had one of those upsell schemes at the dealership I was at. When it first came in, the lady put in charge of it all copped a lot of flack about selling them to cars with the electromechanical power steering.

In the end, she just asked what applied to what on every car. It just came down to a lack of product knowledge, really. Nothing more.

In reagrds to the above story and the tyres, I'm sure the dealership was just simply erring on the side of caution, but offering their tyre-fitting service, should the customer proceed. To me, the whole thing seemed to be blown out of proportion to an extent. I'm sure if the dealership had discussed the concept of the extra work with her before drawing up a quote, it'd be a non-issue.

Hah I saw that. However I didn't know it was only a quote. How dumb of Hyundai... Aren't quotes supposed to get you business?

$700 to service a Hyundai, can you imagine.

As someone who bought an MY13 Polo in September last year, this capped price servicing seals the deal. There is now no way I will take my car back to the dealer for anything but warranty and recall work. I'm not going to let VW insult me by potentially charging me more for the exact same work that another owner gets for less simply because they bought their car 5 momths later than me.

And with Camden GTI around the corner from me and they do offer a fixed price service, its a no brainer. This scheme will likely gain as many customers as it loses.

As others have done, phone the dealership, and ask if they can provide you the same deal.

That article is a load of crap.

Apart from the power steering flush which is patently wrong it was RECOMMENDATION for parts probably needed in the immediate future and before next service.

I have several years of invoices from Mazda that are exactly the same. They put in what is going to be needed and give you the option of having it done.
On the last one for our 626 they had several things and I asked for prices to do them About $600 worth .
Did I get them done NO I bought what parts I considered needed doing and fitted them myself Cost About $200

In this ladies case one tyre was unroadworthy Did it need fixing YES Did she have to get the dealer to do it NO take it to Bob Jane or K mart and get a decent price. She should try buying a set of wiper blades for a VW, some come with whole assemblies only, for that price.

She should have read the docket properly instead of bleating to the whole world and besmirching the dealers reputation for ONE simple mistake.

These dockets are usually generated from a preset form for the service being done and this one was incorrect.
So read it before paying and ask questions if you arent happy. The dealer said she wasnt charged for them except for the brake bleed, which was probably needed to be done and was double listed abut only charged once.

I feel sorry for the dealer and not a bit for the woman.

So has anyone with a pre Jan 2013 Polo had a service with a dealership with the capped price? I just booked my Polo GTi in, but I forgot to ask the price assuming I'd get the capped pricing with my MY12.5

Edit: I just called VW and they said my car doesn't apply as it was purchases pre 2013. Looks like the 2 year/30,000km service is $695 instead of the capped price of $587.

    what a load of BULL****!!!

Just an observation, for those who are covered with capped price servicing, I called in June to have my 77tsi's service booked for August (to avoid the 5 week wait..) and the website said $354 for the 30,000km, now it's $394.. I checked to see if filters or something was jacking the price up and it's not, it's just an oil change.

Bit steep in my opinion. I dare say they reevaluated their pricing in the new financial year.

This is one of the reasons why i didn't get my service done at VW this time round..
