Maybe try 1234. That's another common default one.
Else, perhaps the previous owner changed the pin for the blue tooth.
Hi guys. I'm having trouble pairing my iPhone 5 to my 2011 6R polo gti. It has the RCD 510 audio package that has bluetooth connectivity. However, it doesn't give me the option of pairing my phone. When I press the navigation buttons on the steering wheel to get to phone then got to setup it just says "User manual!" There's no option to find my phone. When I turn on bluetooth on my phone it finds it and asks for a password which I tried 0000 but didn't work. Do I need to go to VW to get a software update? Thanks!

Also your BT may have reached the max number of paired devices so you may have to delete some old ones.
Worst case your BT unit may not be compatible with the new phone.
