    cant download phone book HELP.

When i try to use the voice activation to make a call on my 12.5 GTI it tells me theres no entrys. the little touch screen all works fine but if i use the steering wheel button instead it wont work. i tried to sync the phone book through the MDF but it says it didnt fully transfer (although it hasnt transfered it at all) i know it normally works as i did it on the demo.

    help please.

(on a side not how do you post pictures. i read the help and faq's but it seams to be out of date.)

Did you do it with your phone or the sales persons?

From what i understand there are some phones that will only show up on the blue tooth screen, mine is one of them.

Did the demo car also have the removable touch screen?

Give this a go to connect straight to the 9w7 module instead of the touch screen:

On your phone, make sure you have unpaired the Touch Adaptor. Only pair with the 9w7/unit under the seat (aka VW PHONE).
If you have your phone's bluetooth on before you start the car, it should automatically connect to your 9w7.

If you forgot to turn on the bluetooth prior to starting the car, you can manually connect using the MFD by:
Using the left/right buttons on the steering wheel, switch to the Bluetooth menu -> Scroll to "bluetooth" -> then "Users" -> then choose phone.

This will give you all the full features of the bluetooth integrated with the RCD510 and steering wheel.

Hope this helps with what you're after

Yea the demo had the screen. i tried what you said and it worked a treat cheers. i have dicovered you can only use one or the other. and what i noticed was when going through the touch screen it picked up what i was saying better then going of the steering wheel button.

The bluetooth streaming is far superior though. Does anyone know if I can set the car to automatically look for my phone instead of the baseplate? I have to set it everytime I turn the car on. It also seems to require the baseplate to be plugged in. Also, if I plug the phone into the MDI it still seems to be BT streaming the music, and if I go into the MDI input on the stereo I can't get it to work. Obviously I'm missing something, does anyone know what I have to do?

Both can be fixed with VCDS. Check my post here: http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/foru...tml#post808755

By the way, whatever I've done the car bluetooth is connecting directly to the handset (not baseplate) without having to manually select it now.

Use your steering wheel controls, go into the bluetooth menu on the Multi Function Display between the guages, make the bluetooth visible. Go into your phone's bluetooth menu & select VW Phone in the available devices. The touchscreen will have to be in the baseplate, but the connection will bypass the touchscreen & be direct from car to phone. You won't be able to use the touchscreen for bluetooth control but your phonebook will download into the car & you'll be able to use the wheel controls. Bluetooth music streaming will be massively improved too.
