    Thumbs up Brake Upgrade On 2013 GTIs!

    Hi all,

    I searched about it but found nothing.

    There is a brake upgrade on 2013 Polo GTIs.
    2011-2012 models have 288mm front brake disc but 2013s have 312 mm.

    You can see 2013s have different caliper carrier and bigger disc.

    This one is 2011-2012 Polo GTI:

    This one is 2013:

    There isn't any info about it. I only found winter tyre recommendation on official brochure for 2013 models.

    2011 and 2012s have 15" winter tyre recommendation but 2013s have 16".
    Why? Because 15" can not fit onto 312 mm rotor

    I did think that the front brake rotors looked quite big... they were also fantastic on the track, they were smoking when I got back to the pits once but I never got any fade.

    Handy to know. All we need to do now is to talk DBA rotors into making 312mm T3 2-pc slotted rotors to suit and then we can have a nice brake upgrade.

    Been using the DBA 288mm T2 slotted rotors on a MY12 for a few months now and I am much happier few the feel of the brakes. My car was a ex demo with 5000km and I suspect the rotors were already warped when I got the car as from the start I felt the brakes lacking. Now even with standard pads and the DBA rotors the brakes feel more sure footed and not like they have no feel to them like before.

    The Australian RVCS data only shows 288mm for the 2013 GTI;

    Partsbase.org lists the Polo 6R GTI front brakes discs to be 288mm, part No.6R0615301A. VOLKSWAGEN VENTO/CLASSIC-IND [PO] (SOUTH AFRICA) 2013 [6R-D-000 001 >>]: WHEELS, BRAKES: 61530. DISC BRAKE; VERSION

    The part number on the front brake discs of my Polo is 6R0615301B and it looks like these discs are 312mm in diameter.

    Has anyone had a chance to fit DBR rotors (or similar) to their 2013+ GTI yet?

    Worth the cost or would a pad upgrade suffice?
