That's why they insulate it. To get the heat up as quickly as possible. Any air flow through the engine bay is directed through the AC, radiator & IC cores. There isn't much "blown away by the driving wind" as it's hot already (after passing through the cores). That's why everything under the bonnet is so hot when you lift the bonnet.

could always fit a dash from the GTI but not sure about the connectors for temps...

and just throwing some ideas around. there maybe a thought of bonnet vent for the air box that will probably never eventuate due to lack of skills of any sort. unless i can find a bonnet cheap at a wreckers i could hack up. again, just thoughts and ideas.

RE GTI dash insert, not likely. The money you will spend would have bought you a gti.

If you want to vent the bonnet for functional purposes, dont because I will guarantee that without complex CFD, you WILL produce adverse results.

Yeah that's true which is why I didn't do it. I just wanted more engine noise because on the 1.2 there is none! Only exhaust sound now that I removed the muffler.

Also yeah it would cost about 400$ for a GTI speedo and a few hundred extra for wv to code it in here for you. In all not worth it. A good solution though if you really want a gauge like me is get UltraGauge which shows coolant temp in digital. Not sure about oil though...

I've been emailing p3 every month about a vent gauge for the polo since the day I got mine. Been told they have some guys in Europe now and are looking at the polo and other cars. May have one around August if you believe what they said but you know how things get pushed back and back
