Best brand of waterpump for 6R

Hi all, coolant leak probably means I'm up for my 3rd waterpump in 4 years. I think the last 2 were aftermarket. Has anyone had any success with finding a waterpump that lasts the distance? I hear GEBA is pretty good. My mechanic has also suggested I just get a new car, cause this one will keep blowing up and no parts will help it lol. thanks!

As far as I am aware the waterpumps on the Mk6 R's are pretty solid and should last a typical 5-6yrs or so and then be replaced along with the timing belt. I certainly never had any issues in the 4 years I had my Mk6 R.

Its mainly the Mk6 GTI and then the Mk7 GTI/R that have waterpump issues because they changed the design and the whole unit is made of plastic which of course ends up cracking over time.

But, for what its worth, I have a Geba waterpump on my Mk7 GTI and so far, so good (been 1 year since it was fitted). No leaks yet. My VW/Audi specialist mechanic recommended the Geba brand to me, and said he hasn't had any fail yet and if you compare the Geba to the genuine pump, the Geba has some minor design changes to make it stronger and supposedly less likely to fail.

Thanks for the insights lucas, I can get a Geba version from VAG autoparts for about $685, but I reckon I can find one for more like $300 if I keep looking. cheers.

This is the supercharger clutch/waterpump?

They have gone up in the aftermarket in the last few years. Vw used to be cheaper than aftermarket, but they have gone up now as well. Its a pretty common failure

My apologies mate - I saw 6R in your initial post and assumed you meant a Mk6 Golf R, not a Polo 6R. When I saw the price you got quoted for the waterpump, I then realised my mistake.

So obviously the waterpump for the Polo is a different design/part, and if you have the 1.4 twincharge engine then the waterpump is also the supercharger clutch assembly - hence the higher price. I suggest looking on VAGParts and also RunAutoParts if you haven't already.
