BEFORE I START: Has anyone done an aftermarket sound upgrade to their 6c?

A shot in the dark here as there isn't much information on the internet, but has anyone pulled out the Composition Colour screen in their 2015 Polo to take a look at the back of it? I can't even find references to the model number online.

I'm looking at installing parts of my old car's sound system in to my new Polo since I can't handle the stock setup any more (it's not bad, but I'm a hoon and like sending myself deaf).

If nobody has, I'll document my progress and provide pics to the forum but I'd rather not rip the car apart for no reason so if anyone has any helpful tips, please let me know. I'm hoping it's just a standard speaker wire setup at the back and nothing more complex like some of the Golfs have. If they threw in a couple RCA outs that would be even better, but unlikely.

One thing I have noticed so far is that breaching the firewall from the battery to cabin looks like it'll be fun: that thing has holes only where there is already a loom going through and it's sealed around it. On top of that, there is a layer of what I guess is noise dampener. Nicely made car, pain in to booty to muck around with.

The actual stereo control unit is the one in the glovebox with the sd card inputs. The screen is just a display.

I think that's for a different model - I read that elsewhere but there is nothing in my glovebox and my SD card input is on the screen:

I'll take another look that because I wasn't really searching for it in the glovebox. Thanks!

Take a few photos of what you have. Just off the top pf my head the 6c polo's had the same system as the mk7 golf.

Sorry, I broke the attachment before - reinserted now. I'll need to check the glovebox again when I get home but it looked pretty empty on my last quick glance.

Hmm that looks like it. That means it is the control module itself. If your swapping it out just remember it does alot more than just radio, incorporates pretty much all the infotainment functions

I won't be swapping it out for that reason. All I want to do is pull it out and tap in to the speaker wire, run that to an amp or to RCA converters (that will then go to an amp) and run the stock speakers from the amp. So everything will still look stock, but I'll be improving the signal and power to the speakers. I originally intended to replace the speakers but a lot of forums suggested against it and recommended trying the stock speakers on an amplifier first since, apparently, they're pretty decent quality and are just massively under-powered by the head unit.

Hopefully one of the guides intended for the Golf or 6R Polo will shed some light on how to pull it out.

Sounds like a good idea, you might also need to recode the unit for external amp afterwards

Here is the 6c glovebox - so I'm thinking everything must be behind the Composition Colour screen rather than in the glovebox.

When you say I'll need to recode the system, do you mean with VCDS? Why is nothing simple with these cars hahaha

Yeah with VCDS, pretty sure you will need to code for external amp as the factory unit has it's own internal
