Also, how is fuel economy affected?
Also, you guys had a custom clutch pack on your project Polo, if memory serves, but it's not offered by APR? Why not?

Hey Rob - its more the gear matching to engine load - holding it in the correct gear instead of one or two higher than where it should be (thus slipping the clutches & causing premature wear).

We just use standard clutch packs - we investigated rebuilding them and found the friction material supplier, but it wasn't an economical proposition.

Also - no noticeable change to fuel economy - highway cycle your car would be using the correct gear.

Guy, any notes on the standard DSG tune vs the performance DSG tune?

    Thanks, Guy.

Yes, I do very little highway driving with my P GTI, which may explain why my clutches wear so quickly.

(As an aside, they have been replaced today. I asked them to tell me how much it will cost when my warranty runs out, and they told me not to worry, as VW will provide them out of Good Will! Somehow I have trouble believing it...)

I find it hard to accept that fuel economy would be so little affected, in a car intended to be a city car (ie: not that often on the highway). Otherwise, why would VW stick with a program that is ruining their clutches? There has to be a sacrifice somewhere, no? I mean, fuel economy is THE reason for programming early upshifts, isn't it? Why else?

That being said, in my mind, I would certainly sacrifice a bit of fuel economy to save my clutches - with a bit of extra fun thrown in as a bonus!

Hey Guy, where can I get the DSG program? I am from CZ. So far from Australia unfortunatelly. I have VWR exhaust, VWR air filter, and VWR sport springs on my GTI 2013. And want the software. Any ideas???
