Doesn't help you but might be useful for future searchers.
I'm gunna say that this is a awesome feature but the detection side from VW I'm pretty sure they can tell there has be a tune done to ECU without or without switching to stock tuning.

    I know, that's why I said "try"

They'll definitely notice it if you leave it on when they go for their test drive

They will also get a TD1 flag as soon as it is plugged in to the computer too.

Most of them don't have the gear and training to determine this (and aren't looking for this anyway)
You do need to ensure you don't have any fault codes with operational values clearly outside stock parameters, that's a dead give away

Then again, you may want to tell them the ECU has been flashed so they don't update the ECU and overwrite your tune
(there is a fee to have your ECU reflashed by the tuner)

In any case if you are worried about VW and warranty there is no point looking into these ECU tuning updates

100%. As soon as the computer is plugged in as diagnostic mode, all becomes clear.

Best off not telling them because the good tuners will just re flash any wiped tune. You tell them it's tuned and you can be in for a world of hurt!
