I'd be double checking with a dealership regarding part numbers, you really don't want mismatched springs and dampers, speaking from experience!
hi guys
ive got a 77tsi without the sports pack. Anyone on here looking to offload there sports springs? I noticed a few users over the time have upgraded further. Im assuming the sports springs work with the standard shockers?

but that would imply that lowering spring kits aren't a good idea......

Springs and dampers are unique in sizing with the chassis of each individual vehicle.
H&R, Eibarch etc have engineering backgrounds which must adhere to stricter laws in Europe then our ADR compliance.
So naturally they would make spring kits that gel/completely match with the original damper settings for TSI, GTI and so on based on weight, drive etc.
Sorry. I should have put in some sarcasm indicators.
Lowering springs are something I rail against but hardly anyone here is willing to listen when I tell them to change both dampers and springs (or even just upgrade the dampers if the budget is tight).

If you want I can check tonight if there's a part number on it somewere, have them laying around after replacing them for coilovers

Everyone, kaanage is probably the wisest of all the elders on here, especially regarding suspension and 99.99% of the time I agree wholeheartedly with him. The other 0.01%...... That until he convinces me otherwise
For those who don't know about matched spring rates and dampers, if your springs cotract and expand at a rate that your dampers aren't matched to, i.e can't compress and rebound at the same rate while still damping the forces going through them, then your ride will be terrible and your car will not handle any better, in fact it will handle worse.
Jeremy Clarkson once said something along the lines of (regarding the BMW Z4) "This car was designed in the USA and in the USA a hard ride is seen as sporty, but this car isn't sporty, it's rubbish. Just because the car has hard suspension doesn't mean that it handles well."
I will guarantee that a good 70% of the time people put different springs in the car that haven't been engineered to match the stock dampers, people will think it handles better when in fact, it's worse.
It's called "The Placebo Effect".
