Anyone interested in Porsche OEM oil and coolant caps for their 6R Polo?

Im trying to organise a group buy on another forum for these oil and coolant caps, and i thought i would share the info here too incase any Polo owners were interested. These caps are a direct replacement for your original plastic caps - no modifications necessary.

As a different and much cheaper alternative to the Audi R8 oil and coolant caps (and cheaper again than JCaps and Forge caps) the Porsche oil and coolant caps also fit VAG engines and are a definite improvement over the stock black/blue plastic items.

    These will fit:
    - Passat R36
    - Golf R32 (Mk4 and Mk5)
    - Golf GTI (MK4, Mk5 and Mk6)
    - Golf R
    - Polo GTI / TSI / TDI etc (both 9N and 6R)
    - Bora, Passat & Tiguan etc
    - Skoda vRS Octy
    - Audi's

I can get these at about 1/2 the price of the equivalent Audi R8 items. (normally the R8 items are about $80-90 EACH delivered)

Just seeing if there is any interest in the Porsche oil and coolant caps here. If i can get interest (and deposits) for 10x or more then i will be able to sell them locally to you for about $45-50 each (or $90-100 for both if you want both) including local delivery from me to you. The more you all want, the cheaper they will be.

If i can get interest and deposits then delivery would be around mid-late April.

If you are interested, please reply to with details on whether you would like just the oil cap or just the coolant cap (or both).

    This is the oil cap:

And this is the coolant cap:

Some pics i took of them fitted to a 1.4TSI twincharge engine (Skoda Fabia vRS):

I find the R8 one much prettier myself, and they're about $45 for the oil cap?

No problems. Would you like both the oil and coolant caps, or just one? If so, please specify which one.

No problems. I'll mark you down for one of each.

Some people will prefer the R8 cap and thats perfectly fine of course. I currently have the R8 oil cap which cost me about $80 delivered from overseas and locally it was about $140 (from memory). The absolute cheapest i have found the R8 oil cap is Bold Sport and they currently have it on sale for $47 (its normally $65). Bold Sport are by far the cheapest compared to everyone else on the R8 cap.

The Porsche caps are just an alternative and less common. I think they look a bit more classy too so im going to get a Porsche one for myself too.

No problem, they're $45 on eBay (which is where i got mine) but the R8 Coolant caps are still about $90-110 on there.

Does the Porsche cap have actual aluminium like the R8 cap or is it silver plastic? Plus how much is the coolant cap?

Heres another picture - they do look quite good.

I dont know why the R8 coolant caps are so expensive, but as you pointed out, they are alot more expensive than the oil caps. With the Porsche ones, the coolant caps are only about $5 more than the oil caps - so the price is alot more even. Given the small price difference, im going to try and offer them both at the same price (which should be approx $45 each or $90 for both give or take a dollar or two) which will include the cost of the caps, bulk international delivery from Germany to me in NSW, and then the postage cost from me to each of you guys.

Its not real aluminium either, its just plastic with a alloy looking paint/coating on it. Even the R8 ones are the same. Mine is a genuine R8 cap and its all plastic.

    I'd want both mate.
Are there any issues with them not sitting in the right orientation? I read sonewhere the R8 caps sit 90deg off on the golf's?
How do you go about turning them so they sit right should they be the wrong way?

I will double check fitment before sending them out, but apparently the Porsche caps sit in the correct orientation (as opposed to the R8 ones). Good news is that adjusting the orientation on the R8 ones is a 5min job to get them to sit correctly and this would be the same for the Porsche ones if it was necessary. (the cap is 2 pieces so you pop the top off and rotate it 90 degrees and click it back in).
