It's 1080p. Awesome low light performance. Has GPS built and also tracks your co-ordinates so you can replay the vision with google maps overlay.

Auto records on 12v power applied and loops the recording automatically over old files. Unless a high G impact is recorded.. in which case the file is locked so it can't be overwritten.

Even has voice prompts to tell you when it has started, stopped recording.

Here's a recording I did at a recent track day.. (turn the quality up to highest)
Staz88 - that looks good. I read that the Mk II can cope with internal car temperatures upto 60' where as the original version used to shut down around 40'.

Where did you buy it from?
No issue with the buttons being on the LHS of the unit - in terms of controling it etc?

    cheers.

I bought from dream-seller on eBay..
New BlackVue DR400G-HD II Season 2 Car Black Box Drive GPS Recorder 16GB | eBay

There is only 1 button on the left of the unit which puts it in parking mode. I never use it.
The sdcard slot is on the right side which suits right hand drive cars better.

Great. But I noticed the manual says you can rotate the body to record inside the car, so I assume it has auto 180' for the image, in which case I could mount it with the holder on the left side, leaving the button looking at me. The reason is I've already run two sets of cables up the driver window column, so thought it would be easier to run the new dashcam cables up the left side post.

PS - I just checked out my iTunes App store and they have just launched an App to control it and download images from the camera (I knew there was an Andriod App, but I'm an Apple man) - I'm sold - ordering one now...Merry Christmas to me

I think you'll find it easier to mount it the correct way up. The button on the left is large and covers the whole end of the unit, so its easy to press sight unseen.
    But whatever works for you.

The playback software does have a 'flip image' function.

I have one of these in the missus' Polo: https://www.blackvue.com/en/main/main.asp (not sure exactly what model) and it has worked perfectly thus far (couple of years). It fits behind the rear-view mirror perfectly.

Run the cord from the 12V outlet in front of the gear lever, up through the passenger a-pillar, and behind the headliner. And it's in there permanently. It doesn't drain the battery unless you set it to "park" mode which enables it to record for a specified period of time when it senses movement in front of the car.

Edit: staz88 beat me to it ^^^
In setting you can set it to go to PARK mode automatically so you never have to touch it.

I also have all the flashy lights turned off so its less noticable

You can buy a Power magic unit for it which switches it off when the battery drops to about 11.8v

I have a 400g and its worth its weight in gold.

Am at present using screenshots to fight a speeding ticket in a zone where the speed sign has been covered up.

Also when setting it up make sure in the recording storage line you set it to TIME and NOT TYPE.

The reason is that it will wipe out some pictures it you dont set the options to the maximum allowable size

    I have mine set to 60-20-20 .

If you have it on time it will keep on keeping on.

Mine is fixed to the screen using 3M Twinlock tape so I can use it in different cars.

I also have a 350G in the rear window of the Passat. This doesnt have GPS

I would recommend that you buy one with GPS and speed and date/time display.

Why? because if you cant prove pic was taken at the exact location at the stated time cops wont be interested.

Have run the wiring down the A pillar and into the fuse box in the end of the dash, have one permanent feed for parking through the Power magic and one aux feed for driving.

About $255 is the going price they are available in Sydney for $258 plus $10 postage

He has just upped his price it was $249 last night.

Some pics of mine installed in car

I want the cables going in close as possible to the left pillar. So 'flip it' it will be. Plus those alternating colours around the button look mesmorising

PS - found a guy in Oz who has them around the same price so bought from him...

    HILLBILLY;

Looks great - really small and tidy install.
It looks like you have another lense higher up in the centre - what's that for?

"Am at present using screenshots to fight a speeding ticket in a zone where the speed sign has been covered up."
I succesfully won a parking ticket arguement because I took an iPhone shot of a badly parked car next to me - cant beat photo/video evidence these days

I turned the flashing lights off as they are annoying As you see on mine its on the right side of the centre but cord is long enough to run across to the left.. No need to worry about flipping images then

Dont know why you would want to film inside the car they are for filming idiots outside.

You also have the choice of turning audio on or off.

Latest firmware updates are available here BlackVue - Full HD 1080p Dash Cameras with GPS

You can save the RECORD folder to your computer and view the contents later in either the blackvue software if you load it on the computer or in another video program.

It pays to format the SD card every couple of months using the SD formatter program to keep it working at its best.

    Its on this page http://blackvue.com/en/contents/sub3...ch=&SearchStr=

Agree - duh - unless you got unruly step-kids you want to hand back or make award of the courts.

What swung me to BlackVue was the MkII improved performance, the iPhone App for control/image downloads, but mainly their web page is in english and well supported. The other Korean sites are all in Korean - which I must admit I skipped in school!!

Despite what has been captured on camera, a lot is if is probably inadmissable in a court. The OLD Police are seeking witnesses before they take it to court.
