    Amplifier Install

    Hi Guys,

I have put an amplifier (Audison SRx2) in my Polo over the last couple of weekends.

I was able to fit down the passenger kick panel area:

2x 8 Gauge (Power and Ground)
    2x 12 Gauge (Speaker cable)
    1x 18 Gauge (12+ Trigger)
    1x Stereo RCA

Here are some pics of the amp under the back seat. I screwed little plastic feet to each corner, it keeps it in place perfectly on the carpet and I don't have to drill any holes.

This is with the seat back, perfectly hidden!

Here is the battery compartment I ran two grounds direct from battery, one straight to the amp and one straight to the head unit. The original position I tried on the seat rail wasn't too good. I know the ground is meant to be short, but everything is dead silent and I get no interference at all with the way it is currently wired:

This channel is right near the battery, there is a little rubber grommet in place at the end of it, remove it and you have direct access into the car!

    The fuse mounted

Here is where I mounted the crossovers, under the glove box. It doesn't get in the way of your feet at all provided you cable tie everything in place

That's about it! Let me know if you have any questions about how to do it.

    Great work!!!

I am sure it sounds awesome now.

And it does confirm one thing, the POLO 5 door is made in South Africa, a few people got no clue yet...

Said it numerous times in other posts, i still hold dear to me that South Africa should lose the capability of building European cars period, they screwed around once with the BMW's they left, then the MK IV Golf screwed that up, hopefully 3rd time lucky.

I'm guessing that you're referring to my posts in the thread about the cheap Golfs where I stated that I thought that all of the new series Polos were made in Spain because of the information given on Carsales.com in their research tool. I never said that you were wrong - in fact I stated that carsales needed to get their facts straight (yes the review that you linked showed that the reviewer knew that the 5 doors were made in South Africa but the research tool states Spain and that tool is the first point of reference for many buyers).

Back on topic - that's a nice job Allegiance. I'm hoping my install ends up as neatly done as yours.

Its all good. You would be shocked to find how many people do not know the origin of the car...

After all, this is a globalised world, and companies like VW would use the production locations only to their advantages. Unless Australia purchase enough VW to warrant a local factory. Something I wouldn't mind seeing!!!

Just back on the topic of the Sound system... Is there a way to do a demo clip or something?? I am really interested to see what difference such an elaborate setup would make!!

Well I could do a demo clip but it won't really give you an idea of how it sounds since all the factors in recording and replaying that would ruin it

The Hertz speakers are incredible. Definitely worth the money. The speakers did sound quite good powered through the head unit, however the clarity the amplifier has provided is well worth it.

It all sounds very balanced, I have no subwoofer however there certainly isn't a need for one.

My last car had a Sony head unit with Sony speakers, I thought I would go all out on this one and it was worth it.

If anyone wants any advice with wiring or help let me know!

I was hoping to keep the system as stealth as possible, which I think I have achieved.

Anyone connected an amp to the standard head units?

Where will I run the remote wires of the amps to turn them on and off?
