The red looks great. Definitely close between the red and black I reckon.

How are you guys finding out when your car is on the ship? Are you getting info from a source or through communication from the dealer?

I'm getting frustrated as I haven't heard anything from my dealer since my last request for an update late November. I haven't had a car for the last 4 months and I'm over it!

I am interested to hear your experiences.

We test drove the Polo 81TSI Comfortline over the weekend and were looking to buy. I can't say I was over impressed with the Sales guy. Very pushy compared to our experience at Mazda.

Are we strange in wanting a manual? The dealer was quick to push the Auto on us or told us we would be waiting 4-6 months for the car if we wanted auto....

While I didn't mind the Auto Hubby and I both like driving a manual and I don't see the point in paying a premium for an auto, also while it isn't technically a demonstrator car it was the one we test drove! and they weren't willing to budge on price!

Please tell me it would be worth the wait!?

I was in the same boat. Pardon the pun! Purchased car on August 30. No feedback since early November. Finally got sick of it and rang her last Monday. She checks the file and its on the ship due to land in a couple of weeks. TLDR: Give the dealer a buzz!

Ha, funny you mention it but when I went looking in November I was comparing the Polo Comfortline to the Mazda2 Genki and opted away from the Mazda2 in part because the sales guy was the stereotypical tyre-kicker, complete with jokes about how ladies will love the vanity mirrors and so on. Meanwhile VW was pretty casual with me, let me take the car out on my own and were great at communicating post-sale info to me as the shipment progressed. And I was previously a Mazda owner so I was leaning that way to begin with.

As for the car, I picked it up on Monday and have done close to 1000km in it so far, Gotta say, I love it. It feels good to drive, is surprisingly zippy and is quality for a car of it's size. Also, I did a trip out to Bathurst from south Sydney up over the Blue Mountains and average 4.6L per 100km. All in all, very happy so far.

This sounds like we got the opposite experience. Mazda gave us the keys and said 'go have fun' got to go for a reasonable drive. When we got back they were busy and we wanted to try the Polo, never made to feel guilty we weren't going to sit down and discuss price. At Volkswagen, took ages for anyone to even approach us (and they had almost no one there) and then we got the hard sell from the sales guy and his manager. At one point when I said I would take the information and we would discuss it his response was 'What do you have to discuss?'

I am starting to think it depends on the dealer you go to! I have decided we will re-test drive both cars, going to a different VW dealership, and see what is on offer. the Polo was by far my preference, there was just something about it (even the negatives like the arm rest position interfering with the hand break and not Sat Nav, were not deal breakers).
