Hey guys just reading through as much information as I can on getting the right size wheels and lowering the car and just wanted to be sure this will work on my GTI before I go spending money and run into problems.
What I'm looking at:
18x7.5 5x100 et38 ZCW Angel Wheels on 215/35/R18 Tyres
H&R 25/40 Springs
OR
Eibach Pro-Kit Springs
**I've heard so many mixed opinions on the Eibach and H&R springs...what have people experienced?
Thoughts/Opinions would be greatly appreciated! Does anyone have a similar setup?
Cheers

I'm currently going through the dilemma of what tyres to fit to newly purchased 18 x 8 35et wheels. At this stage I expect to be running the same tyres as member 'bigfoot' (225x35x18 Kumho 39s, also 35et for 8" wide wheels and 87 load rated tyres) and I am expecting some rubbing on fronts in high speed dips etc. with 'maybe' 25/40 springs.
Sorry to be boring but all 18x215x35 tyres have a load rating of 84. The Polo requires an 87 load rating to be legal. I know there are several Polo owners running the 84 load rating tyres and giving the insurance companies an excuse to not pay out.

2015 Polo GTI with DA pack : Milltek Turbo back exhaust | DD spacer | JB1 | VWR Turbo Intake elbow and intake hose | BMC panel filter | KW Street Comfort coilovers | Whiteline adjust. endlinks | Harding DSG Perf. tune | Wagner Intercooler| Dotz Mugello 17 x 8 32ET
The Polo R wrc has 84 rating 215s though doesn't it?
True it does and it's 54kg heavier? Volkswagen Polo R WRC first drive Review | Autocar
Wonder if that argument would stand up in court. Expect I am stuck with what's on my car's tyre placard?

Needed some more grip for the Targa West City Sprint so I picked up some WRX (note: NOT Sti) rims and tyres cheap:
17x7" ET 47
Tyres: Hankook Z221 Medium semi slicks 225/45R17
Note: will not fit on the rear without spacers, just rubs on the left arch liner. Also they require the bores reaming out, but that's easy. Will fit spacers before the next run.
2012 Polo GTI (and 15 other cars in various states of disassembly)
Anyone running or have any idea of what running 17" 8j ET38 wheels would sit like, trying to get them flush with the arch.

I'm running 17x8 (ET35) at the moment on stock tyres.
Front actually pokes out a touch (looks great), rear looks like it might need a very slight spacer to match.
H&R Coilovers go on in a fortnight's time, so will have more info then.
Minimum drop for the H&R's on the front is 35mm, hopefully I don't run into issues.
