Adding reverse parking sensors: rear grommet? how to remove boot interior?

Hi all. I have bought some after-market reversing sensors to add to my Polo and need to get some wires through from inside the rear bumper into the boot. Is there a grommet somewhere back there?

Also, does anyone know how to remove the plastic panels inside the back of the boot? If I could get those off I may well find a grommet, but I couldn't work out how to remove them.

Once I can get the wires in I'll tap into the reversing wire for power, but is there an easier way to access that than via the tiny access cut-out in the side carpet?

    Thanks!

careful. If you cut into the wiring you may void the warranty on the entire electrical system. Thats the speil they threw at me when I choked on the cost of a golf tow bar wiring harness. You'd possibly get bulb warnings too.

Thanks amazeer. I was planning to use one of those clamp-on joiners to tap into the reverse light power wire. Hadn't thought about bulb warnings. I'm going to risk it, but I'll sure kick myself if I end up having any warranty issues down the track!

Those clamp ons, called scotchlocks are absolutely the worst way to join wires together, bar none.

If you are going to do it do it right.

You could buy some time on ERWIN and get the interior diagrams for the Polo May cost as little as $5 for an hour.

    Thanks HillBilly.

From googling various related details I think I have worked out that there is a grommet under the back plastic trim near the boot latch. I just need to work out how to remove that piece of trim without breaking anything. Does anyone know if it just lifts off with some reasonable pressure?

It pulls straight up but start at one end with a stiff wide thin blade and twist it to lift it I have a set of trim tools which work well.

A 25mm wide chisel applied carefully may work. All advice no responsibility if you stuff it up.

I think the towbar harness plugs into the main harness at the front of the car somewhere. Maybe the factory reverse sensor harness plug is up there too and you could use that as the power source and not have any warranty issues. I have no idea how you would find that harness or whether it would need turned on with VCDS

They would need to be enabled in VCDS Very little is plug and expect it to work in a VW
