And don't forget the sports pack comes with the TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring system) and the foglights with static cornering. The sports pack is well worth the money in my opinion.
The Fabia (Skodas in general) aren't for everyone but they are always worth the cross-shop.
- Street prices are significantly less than the RRPs. Unfortunately VWAUS control Skoda pricing & they don't want Skoda white-anting VW.
- Chassis - I'm not sure. It could be a deal breaker for some.
- Interior & exterior looks - these are subjective. Again, Skoda isn't for everyone.
- Standard inclusions - generally Skoda gets more bells & whistles than the VW equivalent.
- Build quality - Overall I hear a lot less complaints about Skoda build quality than VW.
I think my Skoda looks better now than when I bought it 4 years ago - the look grows on you.
As I said, they aren't for everyone. Most people prefer the conservative option & buy what everyone else is buying - eg: Mazda3.

Ive got Sports and Comfort pack on mine. There really isnt much more you could want.
Besides a supercharger on the engine too!
I was driving a 9N3 polo and the jump from that is crazy. each day i find a new little trick it has.
The MFA+ tacho on the GTI is nice too.
It is a question of how far you're going to go in the long term and wether you want to just pay for it now. It'd be very, very hard to get comparable performance out of a DSG 77TSI w/Comfort and Sport to near the level of the GTI. Throw in the MFA+ Tacho (ala Golf 6), floor mats, GTI steering wheel and seats and things get pretty tricky.
That said if you're not going full hog, a 77TSI with the remap to 100kW is a good value proposition.

Well I took both the TSi and GTi for a quick drive today and I liked them.
Still not sure what way we will go but if we go the GTi we'll probably have to look for one with a few k's on it as the drive away price is tad to much for us. The seats are also alot more comfy in the GTi!!
There is a massive difference in the price of the gti and the tsi. Looking in the thread where people are posting their deals, the gtis are approx $30K, some people are getting a tsi with sports pack for $20K. Add a few hundred for the DNA tune and you have a manual semi gti and $9K in your pocket. You wont be looking over shoulder for oil consumption and DSG issues.
The sports pack doesnt include any of the body kit. Thats lots of extra $$$. In my opinion the sports pack is well worth the money. However if you are going to go for bigger wheels, coilovers, dark tint then its a waste. Save you cash and give yourself $10K for mods/fuel. Definitely get the comfort pack though. You'd be mad to pass that up, I think it is was only about $500-600. Rain sensor wipers, semi auto aircon, and my favourite, the auto dimming rear view mirror.
I drove a skoda as well as the polo. You dont get 6 speed box or VW refinement in the skoda. Its in no way a terrible car, but its not as good.
Edit: Im not totally anti gti. If there was a manual gti with the applicable sans dsg price drop I would have jumped at it. I cant comprehend why it doesnt exist. Whatever technical issue there is against it, they need to resolve it. I'm sure they'd have twice the supply problem if they did. I just need 3 pedals.

Just to pull you up there mate, the Fabia RS is built off the same platform as the 9n3 polo so yes, in terms of last model vs new model sold, the difference is 12 months but the 9n chassis is still ~6 years old. The mk4 golf platform which is fundamentally the same lasted 10 years before being changed to the 9n chassis.
But, we digress. The op wanted to know about bolt on parts.
Suspension:
There are more suspension options out there for the 77tsi than the GTI, you just need to know where to look. Look for online stores from the eu, good pricing with our dollar.
Intakes:
Short of induction noise you won't be seeing any legible gains unless you have an accompanying tune I which, DNA is the only local tuner to have one.
That's about it really in terms of performance. There is heaps about in terms of cosmetic upgrades but that's not what I think you are really after.
