1.4 CAV- engine
Sump Plug 30Nm (service manual says to vacuum out the oil, not touch the sump plug)
Oil Filter 20Nm
Oil Capacity - Golf Plus: 3.6L including filter
Capacity from min to max mark on dipstick: 0.5L
This is all out of the 1.4TSI repair manual, yet the mantainence manual quotes different figures for the Polo GTI:
CAVE Engine, 132kw 250Nm
Sump plug: 30Nm for M14 sump plug, 58Nm for M24 plug (mine was M24 from memory)
Oil Filter: "Tighten to specified torque" 20Nm
Capacity from Min to Max on dipstick: Unsure, but 1L is what it took from the bottom of the dipstick to full capacity.
Oil capacity: I put in 4litres, ran it, then topped it up with another 250mls or so...
Stage 2+ Intercooler Carbon Intake Downpipe Swaybar DV+ Remsa.
UPDATE : 4-cyl 1.2 l direct injection with turbocharger
The oil capacity has changed for engines manufactured from June 2011.
Engines up to May 2011 : 3.6 l with oil filter.
Engines from June 2011 : 3.9 l with oil filter.
VW probably imagined it would confuse the heck out of the consumer, so it's probably easier for them just to write "refer to dealer" in the owner's manual.
So in light of this information, I would actually do as VW says and double-check with the dealer (this goes for all models that didn't come with the oil capacity specified in their manual). They'll probably need your VIN to verify as well.
Seems VW have done the old Holden trick regarding oil consumption in the GEN III V8. Just make the sump bigger and the dipstick longerInteresting that's for the 1.2 TSI though...
