    77tsi Headlight bulb replacement

    Hi guys,

Could someone please demonstrate how to replace the headlight bulbs on the Polo. Does this process involve removing the entire headlight. Your help would be much appreciated guys.

Have a look in your owner's manual. It has a detailed step-by-step guide with diagrams of how to change the bulbs.

Thanks for your replies guys, I've misplaced the original manual somewhere....I'll pick up a second hand one and see how I go. Any recommendations on bulbs? I was looking at the osram nightbreakers

Hey mate. You have to take the whole headlight out to install the Lowbeam bulbs. You can install the highbeams with the headlight in but it's quite hard.

If you want I can help you install them of your not sure how to do it but it is quite easy.

-Remove the top metal bracket (3 black hex screws)
    -Pull out the electrical plug
-Pull the headlight out towards the front of the car and it's out

Only two screws on the bracket need to be removed... The third (middle) is just to help with positioning and doesn't attach to the light housing.

confirmed as above, the only thing that I would add is that it is well secured in there so once you have the bolts out, it wont just 'fall out' you have to give it a bit of a wiggle and a wangle to get it out but it does come out. and also when you put it back in, i dont recall exactly, but there is a little lip/ridge arrangement on the bottom that has to go in so just pay attention to it when you are putting it back in. as also said above, you can change one without removing the assy, but you have to have go-go-gadget hands and flexibility in places that normal people dont to get it done

If you're in need of any 6n1 parts, odds are that I am going to have them (dismantling 2 at the moment)

Search the forum,i remember i ask the same and got reply with pics.it was easy for me to do it as a first timer. There is a screw driver next to the spare tyre to undo the screws.
