    From 77 to 100 in 15 minutes

    Okay, okay - so it's a catchy title - but it's true.

Finally got around to putting DNA's Stage 1 into my Polo.

As most people would know I've been really pleased with it and love the nippy engine mated to the DSG. So plugging in John's laptop that he'd posted to me, and then having him login remotely and upload the modified code to my beloved VW meant a 10 minute install, and then a 5 minute repack of his laptop - so it didnt slide off the seat when I went for my first born again drive.

Holy Stage 1 !! - it's great. Just as relaxed and finessed around town / easy on the throttle, but now with a push further on the accelerator comes a mini-growl and rapid increase in RPM, right to the edge of the redline. It's a brilliant transformation...I put it into S mode to drive the 5 minute test journey back home, and did not want to return, except for the children needing picked up at school.

Thanks John - it's a brilliant upgrade. It's added another dimension to my 77, ahem my 100.

You know you have to change your name now?

If I might ask, how much did John ask you? Did he courier the laptop because your in a different city?

Hi - John is offering it at $730 for the moment - correct me if wrong John.

Yes he couriered the laptop, dongle thingy and cables to me, then he remote connected to the pc and ran the install over the wifi network.

Steve, I can't thank you enough for your glowing review; it truly is very much appreciated.

To answer the questions above, yes indeed, I send this kit around for interstate upgrades. It is very simple to use - but made even simpler as I can simply connect remotely and carry out the process (other than physically connecting the cable to the car).

The cost of the upgrade is $730 as mentioned; a refundable bond is required for this loan equipment kit, and all relevant shipping costs are included in the price.

Looking forward to the next happy "77 to 100 in 15 minutes" customer!

77 to 100 in 15 minutes! For a second there I thought you meant km/h as you'd bought an old Kombi van

Good work on the relatively cheap upgrade.

    Cheers.

Is this something that can be done for the GTI? If so, what's the increase???

John will have to confirm this (due to nice little nasties now like the MED17.5.2 ECU no being found in the MY11.5 onward cars) but the GTI was showing from 132kw to 155kw and 250Nm torque up to around the 300nm mark, IF it can be done remotely. On the GTI, it's more likely a whole ECU out jobbie....

Just wanted to ask with the ecu upgrade i gather it will void my VW warranty due to modification?

Also reading 77's review does it go to the redline or exceed the redline? (very fearful of passing the red line as i know it will hurt my engine.)

    Cheers

I have liaised with John about getting my GTI remapped. Price is $830 (GTI) and takes 2 appointments as the ECU is removed. All ECU ID info remains intact to reduce detectability. He is a mobile service so he comes to you after hours. Ratings are 155kw at the flywheel.

After I get the full Milltek exhaust and new APR air intake my car should be quite the little rocket.
