    6R TDI knocking noises

My wife has a '10 tdi that has just done 60k, before the service it was idling pretty terrible and sounded like knocking about 3k revs.

Similar to this: Polo 6R 1.6 TDI engine problem - strange sound - YouTube

I booked it in for a service at the same time as inspection, the same week as booked in the glow plug light came on as well as cel (hit limp mode on the way to service)

First time at workshop code was EGR fail so had that replaced, picked up car after service+egr 2k lighter.

24hrs later cel and limp mode again. Took it back, was apparently temp sensor this time so that was fixed $600. Workshop blamed unleaded in the tank (I've got a receipt for full tank of diesel before dropping off)

Ran like a new car for 2 days now it's running like a complete dog, no power engine shaking on idle. No CEL or limp mode though.

I thought it was injectors to start with but egr and faulty sensor also could be culprit.

What should I do now? Try and diy the injectors? I'm 2k down with no improvements possibly worse, car is undrivable.

Drain the tank, replace the fuel filter and fill with fresh diesel by the sound of it, mate. Is it also down on power? They'll run with quite a bit of unleaded in them.

My ex missus did it to me with my 1.9TDI Caddy.

The workshop did exactly that, they kept a sample for me which clearly has unleaded in it.

I put nearly 45l of diesel into the tank a week before service, so I've got no idea how unleaded got in there.

The engine bay is smells quite heavily diesel fumes though. The odd part is how nicely it ran for the 2 days after I got it back.

I'd say the bloke filling the tank put it in the wrong hole. No pun intended.

Might be another trip back to the workshop by the sound of things, mate.

I need to get a customer rewards card.

Let's say injectors are the issue, are they a hard job?

Injectors are a common issue on the 1.6Tdi. Usually noticed by pinging around the 2-3k rpm range under light-moderate throttle. Will need an idle adjustment test ran and if necessary the injectors will need replacement. Good will should cover it aslong as your service history is good, due to there being a tech bulletin relating to the issue.

This is what my 66TDI sounded like before the injectors were replaced:

Lol that's at an extreme, the first signs you will hear will be the pinging/rattling from the engine I described.

Sounds exact same problem as my 2011 TDI Polo,
All my injectors were replaced for free even though i was out of warranty as it was known common fault.
Only because i had a full VW Service which was good

First they assumed the sound was unleaded petrol in tank but i was positive it wasn't
