6R Polo GTI sunroof

Hey all,

I'm still undecided on whether to get the Panoramic electrically tilting glass roof on my gti soon to be ordered or not?

Id love if people who already have it to comment.

Hi There

I have just changed from a 77tsi without sunroof to a 77tsi with sunroof. I am probably a bit biased as i love sunroofs and almost have them open whenever i am in the car.

A couple of things to note
1) Whilst VW call it a panoramic sunroof, its not really panoramic. looks large from outside, but internally its about the same size as a normal retrofitted sunroof.
2) Looks great when mated to a car that isn't black. You really notice that half of the roof is black glass.
3) fantastic noise reduction, even when travelling 100km per hour fully open.
4) Doesn't auto close when you turn off the car (can be closed by holding lock on your key). This may be an option that can be changed by the dealer but i have sunroof on both the tiguan and the polo and neither close when the car is turned off and closed.

When I ordered my Polo tsi, I knew I wanted a sunroof - can't tell you how thrilled I was when I discovered it was a panoramic one. I absolutely love it. I think it looks fantastic on the Polo (both open and closed).

My previous car didn't have a sunroof and my fiancé's previous car had a normal sunroof. After experiencing none, normal sunroof and panoramic sunroof, I don't ever want to get another car without a panoramic sunroof.

When the weather permits, I always have it open. I also find opening it helps to get the hot air out of the car quicker too and the sun shade has been effective on the few hot days we've had.

I personally love mine.

Externally it looks great being black...goes with any colour car...really changes the look of the car completely. Sliding mechanism works well and looks so cool.

Internally VW got it right by going with a breathable mesh shade cloth rather than a full block out slider. When closed still allows air in while not being overly noisy and too blowy.

agree, breathable mesh shade is a winner. The whole design is very good. people really notice when you have it open as its one large piece of glass floating above your roof line.
