I'm booked in at Taylor Made Exhausts in Melton...yes it's a small drive but I'm going there because this guy comes recommended by a mate who's had two cars done for $80 each.

Let me play the guinea pig here before anyone commits as I would hate to give a recommendation only for the experience to be a failure or disappointment.
I understand. Melton is perfect for me as in the Westeren Suburbs

It is the resonator/middle muffler. There is only 2 on the car so if they take out the one directly below the drivers seat, they have removed the correct on.

Side note ATYPIC, you coming on the cruise seeing as you are in Melbourne?!?!?! we have to compare the difference between a resonator deleted exhaust and....well....something else...

Sdrablos, the pipe diameter should be 55mm.

Don't know if you can easily receive this from Italy, but that's the best I found here, same diameter as the original pipe: InoxCar - Volkswagen
With the first pipe of the page, you can use the original inox-band to fix the new pipe behind the removed muffler (cutting the new pipe at the right distance).
In the front you can cut the original pipe just where it is linear, after the double turn ahead of the muffler and fix the new pipe with the provided screw or using another band as the rear one. IMHO this is the best way to come back easily with the original muffler.
Alternatively you can wire-weld it in the front (like I did, using a different pipe unfortunately...)

Better to use a flared piece of 57mm OD pipe that sleaves over the existing front pipe. Linish the edge on the rear edge of the pipe that fits into the clamp and cool the pipe. Heat the clamp. Fit the clamp onto the pipe and then fit the flared end over the exisitng pipe and weld. Then fit th eclamped end of the pipe back onto the rear pipe of the car.

Got a quote from Castle Hill Exhaust. They can do single jobs for $100. If I can get 3 or 4 Polo's done at the same time then $80 each.

If we can agree on a day then I can book it in.
