Has anyone in Canberra had this done to their GTI? I really want to hear it in the flesh. The videos (for me at least) just arent convincing enough!

Yeah man I have it done. I live north side but work in Phillip if you want to hear it.

Only negative thing I'll say is the spanners at Lennok will try to convince you that you've taken out the catalitic converter when you take it in for anything. Even if you tell them it was just a resonator.
    Best noise improvement though.

Thinking of getting the mid muffler delete done and I have read the full 18 pages of the thread and there were 2 owners not happy with the result...ATYPIC (about 10 pages back and last year) and one other (can't remember who).

ATYPIC or gavs or anyone - was ATYPIC's issue resolved? I read it was a suspected O2 sensor issue?

^^^ That would've been me. Same symptoms as ATYPIC. Not sure if it was shoddy workmanship or just my particular car, but the loss of power was a concern. My solution....got a Milltek Catback exhaust which gave me back the power and the sound is a whole lot better...albeit at a price. In my case, I don't think it was the O2 sensor.

Yeah, the fact that GTI JOE's car and ATYPIC were both done at the same place (i believe?!) I think it was installation specific because mine has never missed a beat....

This I tend to agree with and yes they were both done at the same place.

I've become somewhat tolerant to the loss of power in the short term because I'm awaiting completion of the Viezu package with the full exhaust system.

I would say go and have it removed but just ensure you get done properly with the clamp option so it is reversible easily enough.

Thank you gavs, GTI Joe and ATYPIC for your replies. My thinking now is to wait and go for the full well designed cat back system. What would the warranty implications be for a full system versus just a muffler delete?

When you say full, I assume you mean TBE (Turbo Back Exhaust) as opposed to CBE (Cat Back Exhuast)? I have the CBE and have had some warranty work done recently with no problems. A TBE would mean that you will have to get a stage 1 ECU tune, with that, you will have warranty problems with Also, should have no problems with a muffler delete, assuming you have a good stealership to take it to

Thank you GTI JOE that makes perfect sense, "full" was my poor wording. The Milltek CBE as fitted to your car is exactly what I am now really keen about. Pity there are no stockists listed on their web site for poor little old Adelaide but I will likely get it shipped and then find a suitable fitter.

How loud etc is your exhaust? similar to the muffler delete? I have not shopped around yet so can I ask you what you paid? - you can message me if you prefer. I am expecting it will be $1000 plus.
