6C GTI Front end clunk noises

    Hi

I have a 6C GTI and am getting loud clunk noises from front end both sides (sounds like something to do with suspension) when going over bumps but mostly when backing out of driveway with steering turned.

Also getting faint clunk when steering full lock to the left.

not sure if these two are related.

    Any help would be appreciated

Loose subframe bolts maybe, I'd start by checking them first.

They bolt the subframe to the chassis, vertically. So it's an under the car job, with a tension wrench, sockets and a long extension to get to the bolts that go through the subframe. The subframe location is mildly adjustable which mostly affects the camber, side to side. So a wheel alignment afterwards to make sure that it is the best position, so the camber is even side to side.

    Cheers

Front pads moving around in calipers when moving backwards. Normal
