66 TDI real world fuel economy?

I'm considering buying a 66TDI Polo - I'd like to hear from anyone who already has one of these cars, what fuel economy are you getting in real day-to-day driving?

I'm looking at a manual transmission.

Have a look here at the link below of another thread here. Might help with some of your answers.

I've got a manual 66TDI. My daily driving is about 15kms each way over variable roads... mountain, main roads, then urban. I'll usually get about 4.2-4.8L/100km on the way there and between 5.0 and 6.2L/100km on the way back (a lot more uphill). In city/more built up areas it's usually a bit above 5.0L/100km... but I don't do a lot of driving in such areas.

On a longer trip, mainly on the highway the best I've gotten is 3.5L/100km, usually about 4.0-4.3L/100km.

Over the three tanks I've been keeping a record of my fuel consumptions I've averaged 4.73L/100km. It's usually about 800km before I fill up again, with 100-150km to go according to the display.

I'm probably just repeating myself from the 77tsi-vs-66tdi thread, but anyway, hope this helps

My fuel economy hasn't been as good as PoloPie; I have the DSG and have average 5.6 overall [2,500kms]; I am getting about 800kms to a tank. Usually on short trips it is up in the high 5's; and on long trips down towards the low 5's; and I have only seen a figure in the 4's once or twice. I am led to believe that as the car wears in the fuel economy will get better. I should mention that I live in Tassie so there are a fair few hills.

    Another Tasmanian here!

I regularly get between 4.5 and 4.8L/100km. This is mainly highway driving in my DSG Polo. I do the track between Launceston and Burnie often.

How are you people recording your fuel economy?

Kms driven and number of litres to refill tank? Or are you relying on the optimistic trip computer?

Kms driven and the number of litres to refill is the method I use.

Have found the trip computer accurate enough.
I also reset the trip odometer on a full tank fill.
Am getting 5.5 avg with mainly short 15km home- work runs.

    PS am a TSi FYI

My avg is also in the high 5's. My current avg on this tank is around 7!, been flooring it around town, and between the lights...damn the new filter!

PS, the current avg is not due to the filter, just me behaving like a kid and enjoying the TSI

For the economy of each trip I'm looking at the trip computer... for full tank economy I'm working on kilometres driven and number of litres to fill the tank and using the Road Trip app. to record it in my ipod touch.
