My sister has a 66TDI manual as in my signature. Here is what it says in the service book regarding the 60,000 km service:
Engine oil changed, oil filter renewed.
Fuel filter replaced.
Exhaust system checked for leaks, secure fitting and damage.
Visual check of engine and the components in the engine compartment for leaks or damage.
Condition and tension of V-belt checked.
Condition and tension of ribbed V-belt checked (engines without automatic tensioner).
Coolant level and anti-freeze protection checked.
Fault memory interrogated for all self-diagnosis systems.
Brake pad and disc rotor thickness, front and rear checked.
Brake system visually checked.
Brake fluid level checked.
Headlight settings checked.
Dust and pollen filter replaced.
Oil level in manual gearbox and final drive checked.
Underbody sealant checked.
Gearbox, final drive, C.V. joint boots visually checked.
Steering knuckle ball joint sealing boots checked.
Track rod ends checked for play, looseness and sealing boots checked.
Battery checked.
Tyres checked.
Full written report on work.
Electronic convenience systems checked.
Door check straps and securing pins lubricated.
Front and rear lighting checked.
Interior lighting, cigarette lighter, horn and warning lamps checked.
Driver and passenger airbags checked.
Windscreen wiper and washer system checked.
Function of sliding roof checked.
Service indicator reset.
Service sticker put on windscreen.
Road test.
In addition to the above, at 60,000 kms this work must be performed:
Air filter element renewed and housing cleaned on vehicles which do more than 60,000 kms in 4 years.
Spark plugs renewed (obviously wont apply to us diesel people)
Fuel filter renewed.
Automatic transmission fluid level checked.
Oil level in automatic gearbox final drive checked.
also, the book says that the brake fluid should be changed every two years.
