If you have to buy a turbo anyway, You could buy a used turbo off a wrecked mk7 golf gti. It's a bolt in replacement with a bigger housing so if you get a flash tune you'd be looking at big power gains.
Hi there
My brother has bought a new polo gti. The turbo is blown and volkswagen won't fix it due to it supposedly being driven without oil... anyway im looking for somewhere where i can get my hands on a new turbo. Theres some info around about a revised edition of this turbo. But i can't find anything about anywhere that has any turbo to suit.
Cheers Dan

As suggested a Mk 7 Golf GTI turbo will fit or if he has plenty of money -
APR K04 Turbocharger Kit - Volkswagen Polo 1.8T - Awesome GTI - Volkswagen Audi Group Specialists
or -
VW Polo 1.8 TSI - Stage3 IS20 turbo upgrade 98RON - eTuners
It does seem strange "no oil"? No oil in the motor I would expect the motor to seize before the turbo went?

Hmmmm.... How 'Blown' was the Turbo?
Has the impeller disintegrated and deposited fragments in the engine (requiring a engine stripdown) or have the bearings just seized? A bit more background on why VW were able to claim it was run without oil would be useful.
The Turbo in my MY 2017 Polo GTI was replaced under VW warranty at 9K as poor tolerances with the impeller bearing(s?) were allowing the impeller fins to contact the turbo housing. Once the issue was diagnosed, I had no trouble with VW doing the Turbo replacement under warranty. My local VW dealership has now done three of these Turbo replacements although one vehicle was not a polo.
I have snipped part of what I posted on a UK GTI Polo Thread and pasted it below
<"Since new, the car has shown tendencies to 'gasp' at steady throttle settings like it is missing on one cylinder or losing power. Typically occurs in the 1500 - 2200 rpm Rev range. It occurs when the car is warm and I have noted it when driving through car parks in first and second gears. Also noted it when driving through towns in third and fourth gear at about 60 km/h (35 mph for U.K. readers ) also at steady throttle settings. When cold, after a 20 - 30 second warm-up and pulling away in first gear, kangaroo hops are almost guaranteed for first 100 metres or so, feels like it is running on two cylinders. The 'gasps' feel a bit smoother than cylinders actually misfiring but that is the best description I can think of at the moment." >
In addition to the above, going over speed humps would bring on a bout over Kangaroo hops, for 50 - 100 metres and occasionally a metallic 'Chink' type sound (Presumably as the impeller hit the turbo inlet housing).
I have done another 10K km's since the Turbo was replaced with no further issues.
To the OP.
We are down in moorabbin, and have an IS20 on the shelf removed from a GTI that had a Golf GTI turbo upgrade installed.
Message me through VWWC or Underground Performance - Home | Facebook
We have lots of options we could put to you.
Cheers
