2015 Polo GTI Questions

First VW car so still learning a lot. Noticed 3 things so far and I'm not sure if these are normal.

1. When the car is on reverse gear, the white light at the back only turns on on the left side. Is this how it is supposed to be or is the right white light busted?

2. When the car is going downhill and the car is on D, it seems to hold the gear even if the rev goes up to 4K+. Shouldn't it automatically shift to a higher gear? Tried applying the brakes or pressing the accelerator a bit but the gear would still not shift until the road levels out or start climbing again.

3. If you are using Samsung Galaxy S6 phone, the sms message are also display in the car's head unit screen. But if you are using iPhone 6 or 6+, the sms does not appear in the screen. Is there a way to make the iPhone sms appear in the car screen?

The first 2 are normal. Don't know about the 3rd.

My Jetta's Reverse Light is the same, only one side. When I first got the car I thought it was a fault as well. Very weird of VW to only have one Reverse light which IMO is not bright enough for reversing in dark places.

From memory (always risky);
1. One side is the reversing light, the other is the high output light for rain and fog. The rotary light switch should have positions for front and rear fog lights.

2. The gear change point is dependant on the terrain plus the throttle position, they change up earlier if you use less throttle.

3. The MY2016 GTi's have Apple Car Play added to the Mirror Link which is for Android phones.

My Jetta's Reverse Light is the same, only one side. When I first got the car I thought it was a fault as well. Very weird of VW to only have one Reverse light which IMO is not bright enough for reversing in dark places.

The car only has 1x reverse light. It's actually very common for quite a few European cars. The other side is a fog light that can be actived by pulling the headlight switch towards you.

And i agree - the single reverse light is not sufficient to adequately light up the back of the car when reversing at night.

I have actually never used the rear fog light feature...didn't even know it existed. Can the standard reversing globe be changed for a higher output globe for more light?

Am I imagining things but does the rear of the MY16 Polo look a bit different to MY15. Seems to be a bit wider and the lights look less square.

1 only one light
2 have a look at the right paddle. It has a plus for upshift and the word OFF, if you hold this paddle on while going down hill it releases the gear. This is normal and is in the user manual
3 Sorry don't use apple.

Hi guys, haven't been on for a while but I need some help. From the UK and this seems to be the only active 6R/6C forum bar Facebook. I currently own a 1.4 (85ps) Polo 6R which is currently on H&R 25/40 springs and I just ordered a deep pearl black 2015 Polo GTI manual. Do you think it would be much trouble or cause any trouble to transfer those springs to the GTI? Trying to keep mod cost down, Mrs is on my case ��
