2015 Polo GTI MY16

Hi Guys,

Apologies as I am sure this has been covered, but am having trouble getting solid information.

I have the MY16 Polo GTI and looking to do the following work to it over the next year in this order:

Cold Air Intake
Exhaust
ECU/DSG Tune

So first up, I am wondering if anyone could recommend a cold air intake for this model, i am based in Sydney so can easily travel anywhere in Sydney...

In addition, I understand that tunes will Void Warranty, does the same apply for intakes and the like?

In regards to voiding the warranty, VW will have to prove that the modification is the cause of the damage in order to void it's warranty. So just for an idea, if you get the CAI but it sucks up water into the engine block because you put it too low, that would void the warranty. As for the exhaust, if you blow a gasket because there is too much back pressure, that also won't be covered by warranty. But as you say, the tune will void pretty much all engine warranties because it's already running beyond the specs vw sold it to you at.

You can take a look at apr or VW racing for new intakes for the car but not sure if they're what you're looking for

Not too much has come out yet in the way of tunes and supporting mods for the my15/16 as the engine is new for the polo. Revo have listed a stage 1 tune on their site as "under development" and I've confirmed with a local Revo dealer that it is coming. APR I'm not sure, but probably similar situation.

Hgmotorsport.de list an exhaust and intake for the new model and I believe a forum member here actually has the intake, have a look at the fairly recent thread "add more hp to your my15 polo gti 1.8T". I'm sure it won't be long before a couple more companies come out with intakes and exhausts.

There is a German Bastuck exhaust out for the new Polo GTI, you will need plenty of money, I think 'Best Exhaust' ACT import them. I know they do Supersprint -

It seems Milltek has had problems with its release after advising me 3-4 months ago it was ready for release subject to approval.

Nothing yet for ecu tunes in Australia. Plenty of 'tuning boxes' around and the very newly released for new Polo Berger JB4 seems a good option. I personally prefer something like this because it's removeable if you need to take your car to VW. Plenty of satisfied Mk 7 Golf R owners using this box but it will have its fair share of knockers/haters. Google for more info.

RE warranty voiding: I had catastrophic engine failure in my Golf GTI (lunched valves and pistons) due to timing chain tensioner failure. Car is fitted with APR stage 2 intake and tune and was 6 months outside factory warranty. VW replaced the engine with a new one at zero cost to me. I have also had a few other warranty issues attended to previously with no fuss, such as new battery, and two complete sets of coil packs replaced.

I always get both our cars serviced on time at our VW dealer and this seemed to help because of the ongoing customer relationship.

Had I had it serviced at Ultra Tune or something and only bought it back to VW with warranty issues then I hazard a guess my result may not have been so favourable.

Modifying of course is a risk, but it's a calculated risk.
