yes, you are correct. That's what it says in the manual & you can use 502.00 in a petrol engine on fixed services if you wish.

Also does anyone know what oil weights they use at the dealership? Is it 5W-30 or 0W-40?

And generally the dealerships will use 504.00 because the diesels with DPF can only use 504.00 and the mechanic doesn't have to think if the only have 504.00 on the shelf.

Thanks, sorry i wasn't trying to argue with you, just was a little confused, thought maybe i was reading it wrong

Makes sense with the 504 and the compatability, which is also good because it opens up more options with oil choice

Yes, that's correct. It is better.

the problem is that 99% of 504.00 spec is is 5w-30 and some people want to use Xw-40 for track days or if they have an oil guzzler. 502.00 is available in a range of viscosities.

I use 502.00 because it's $29.00 on special at SCA and since getting a job in the CBD I only do 5,000km a year, so the oil change mileage is very low.
