Is there anyway of determining this with the VIN number ?
    Check your build date.....LHS B Pillar. JULY 2015 onwards means it's a MY16.

I wonder, Is this a constant time?

Is it always in July that a new model will be sold? July 2016 will be MY17?

You need to look at the build date, not compliance date

My GTI has Bridgestone Potenza S001 tyres compared to Continental Contisport on some of the other MY15 cars. I wonder if they changed them for MY16. What is the recommended tyre pressure in psi for S001?

    Inside fuel flap

At a guess - 34psi all round will be a good starting point

Checked Fuel Flap. Suggested pressure for 17" tyres are 270 (39) Front and 240 (35) Rear for two up. I suppose 38 all round might be a good balance.

Late model MY15.5 and MY16 come with Bridgestone. Just as good as Conti IMO

Seems a lot for the tyre size & weight of the vehicle but I guess they are trying to get a "sporty" feel and maybe more direct turn-in.

The lower pressure in the rear would be to give a slightly plusher ride.

You could do worse than start with the recommendation and experiment around a bit.

Checked tyre pressure with a gauge this morning. Pretty spot-on with VW recommendations (39 Front and 35 Rear). Will experiment a bit to find a happy balance for my own preferences. Just needed a starting point to avoid under inflation of tyres.
