2015 polo gti

Hi guys...

Thanks for all the feedback. Yea it will be just my partner and I most of the time. I have yet to test drive the golf gti yet. I drove passed the dealership and saw one polo gti so decided to go and test drive it.

To be honest, I wasn't impressed with it due to the fact the sales only brought us to 60k zone and residential area. I have to admit it is a very quick. 0-60 probably faster than a blink of eye. Interior was really good quality.

Went home did more research and realised the golf gti is on special. So here is my comparison.

Polo gti (driver assistance & luxury pack) auto vs Golf gti (panoramic roof) auto.

I like the golf gti due to the car space. But 10k difference. While I got pretty much everything in a small package with the Polo Gti.

But will 10k justify that? Maybe more feedback is needed. Does it drive better? How was the maintenance/running cost like against the Polo Gti?

I was thinking about the Golf R line but can't get panoramic roof. Plus the price is not too far off from the Gti.

Word of wisdom anyone?

Maintenance and running cost of Golf v. Polo GTI will be very similar. Neither are 'big' cars so fuel is almost similar (Polo may be a bit better). If this is your only car and you are going to keep it for a long long time, like brad said Golf is a better all-rounder.

But if you want to save $10k and get a great city run-around car that goes well, take the Polo ($10k is a ton of money. divide it by how much you earn per hour? is it worth that many hours of gruelling hard work? will you need to pay interest on that? you get the idea...)

My wife and I shared a Polo as our main car for 2 years it was great.

If you are into upgrades, tuning etc. definitely get the Golf.

Suggest you test drive the Golf, can't make a decision any other way. Take your partner along and get their opinion too!

Good advice! We currently driving the new Honda Odyssey. So the second car will be the our everyday car and the Honda will only be use during family occasions. Yes like what you said $10k is a lot of money + interest if loan.

My wife was in the Polo GTI too. But she was less impressed. So do I to be honest. Maybe because of the road condition I guess. I had a good time in my brother's BRZ. The handling was exception and engine was decent enough. She actually prefer the mini suv like the Honda HRV or the Mazda CX3.

I can understand where she coming from. For the same price, you get all the luxury features (collision avoidance system, blind spot warning, leather and etc) which are included in the Honda or Mazda. Even I was tempted too! Especially the CX3, what a sexy looking car. Look like an mini evoque!

Tough decision!!!

This might apply to the guys that has one.
What model is the headunit? The standard non satnav model.
Would I be able to fit a RVC on it?

I agree it looks pretty cool and Mazda are usually good/reliable cars. Much cheaper to service/insure than VW too I imagine. Hehe sounds like you need to book some test drives.

If you already have the Odyssey and are going to keep in then yeah you've got the 'family'/'hauling stuff' sorted, so go for something different for the second car: BRZ, GTI ... Porsche Cayman hehehe

Re the polo drive yeh a few people on here have said the handling fell below their expectation, too hard etc..

This only came up in the last few weeks AFAIK. Having a look at the demo Polo GTI VW this is the exact OEM camera that comes with the DA pack. It is fitted just under the lip above the number plate ... you can hardly see it when installed unless you squat down.

Maybe ask JKU or The Retrofitters? (forum sponsors on here)

The Golf will always be more refined than the Polo. Running costs will be similar & it wouldn't surprise me if the Golf was cheaper to insure.

Why does it have to be a GTI? (and why on earth a Mini SUV which are about as useful as pockets in a singlet?)

Personally, I'd look at a Mazda3.

As an aside (take it to PM if you want) my wife has the latest Odyssey with 2500km on it. Compared to my 1.8tsi the idle is woeful (vibrating steering wheel) and the engine howls like a crappy old V6 Commodore above 4000rpm (it's harsh & not pleasant). Is yours like this?

I am looking for the Gti because I want a fun car as a second car and only have a budget of $40k. Yea I am also looking at the mazda 3 SP25.

In regard to odyssey, idle is fine for me. i never feel any rattles on the steering wheel. Yes you're right with the engine. It could be abit harsh and under power especially when trying to accelerate or overtake. But for a people mover that giving you an avg 8.5l/100k, can't complain much I guess.

Re: insurance polo is much cheaper - rolled mine over yesterday and lineball for a 2015 polo gti v 2009 mk5 golf gti. Mkt value of polo would have to be at least $13k higher too for context

I'd look at a 1yr old Golf GTI and a tune.

She's averaging 10.5L/100. LOL

That's not comparing apples with apples.

I have a 2008 Octavia. Every year the premium goes up and the value goes down. I pay $900 for $12k cover - it sucks. I can almost guarantee that if I updated to the latest equivalent model it would be less premium for $35k cover.

I would think that Polos are in more accidents (due to the demographic they are marketed to) and written off more (due to the lower replacement value). Maybe I'm wrong but often there isn't much logic in insurance.
