Haven't driven one yet but I am seriously considering the DSG as peak hour traffic really wears me down with the gear changes. However I am finding it difficult to come to terms with losing 70nm of torque (22%) which is not available to the 7 speed DSG but is there in the manual so the full performance of the engine is curtailed by the autobox. The Golf GTi does not have this limitation in either manual or DSG. I wonder why VW did not use the GTi DSG unit

Because the more reliable and stronger DSG wont fit. Same reason why the Audi S1 only comes in manual coupled to the 2L powerplant.

At the end the manual and dsg are the same from 0-60 but the increased torque will be felt with in gear throttle.

Suppose DSG will retain better resale or at least easier to sell.

I couldn't bring myself to buying a mazda though. Yes you might get a lot of car for the same price but it's the refinement. I don't know about the exhaust being too muted or not but tonight putting through its paces it still had its Dsg farts In s mode... At the end of the day I guess if problems come up then u gotta live with it right?
But this Polo GTI has come a fairly long way to become what it is

Looks very nice in black, you are going to love it!

One question - did you get an SD card for the Sat Nav, one that works! My dealer had 'V2' only cards which did not work. If yours does work what version is it? I'm waiting for a replacement SD card.

Otherwise no issues with mine so far, fingers crossed.

Other negative for me is you can't option LED headlights without picking up for me the (unnecessary) expense of Roof and Pleather. So for me it doesn't get the tick (partic with the ? over the LT reliability of the 7spd DSG unit). I'll instead most likely be buying a Mazda3 SP25 GT, better value, more std inclusions, better LT reliability.
It only seems to fart when in sport mode

Actually no ..... DSG's command a far lower trade-in than a manual because all used car dealers including VW Dealers know that the DSG's are basically rubbish and prone to trouble. Biggest recall in VW history in Australia due to the DSG box that still lives on the DSG GTI ......

Some people have had 2-3 gearbox replacements in the warranty period on their MK6 Golfs and the previous DSG Polos. If you can live with a far lower trade and possibly not having your car for extended periods whilst it is getting fixed under warranty, by all means buy a DSG .....

I'd buy the manual 100% of the time as it is much more enjoyable to drive for 1 and 2 have none of the reliability issues and finally 3 have better trade at the end.

EDIT: Some used car dealers won't even touch a trade DSG equipped VW ......

Hmmm, DSG or Manual, we can't just keep comparing...
I guess there has to be failures somehow to keep getting better, right?
