2015 Polo Bonnet Rear Edge Scratch - Covered by Warranty?

    Hi Guys,

I have just noticed that the rear edge of my bonnet, on the driver's side, there is a small scratch as shown below. Can't recall exactly how it happened, maybe caused by the wiper arm when I washed the car the other day? If that's the case, then the paint is way too soft. As the car is only like three months old, my concern is whether such paint scratch is covered by warranty? If yes, I will go to the dealer next week; otherwise, how can I fix it?

Any thoughts are appreciated. Thank you in advance.

No it is not warranty. As others have said, just use touch up paint and make sure you put the bonnet down before activating wipers.

You may already know this, but the wipers have a service position to use which lets you raise the wipers without hitting the bonnet. It's in the manual, but all you have to do is switch the ignition on, then off, then push the wiper stalk all the way down. The wipers will stop 3/4 of the way up and from there you can lift them up and they won't touch the rear edge of the bonnet.
I've scratched that same place as well by having the wipers up when washing and then accidentally hitting the wiper stalk when cleaning the interior. Eek.

Thank you guys, save me a drive to dealership, which is 20 mins one way at least.

So where can I get those paint from? SCA or any auto shop?

Guess has to be oil based right? Yes, I'm thinking some white wall paint left from last November sitting in my garage somewhere. Can I use that water based paint to touch up?

    Thanks.

This topic title stood out to me straight away, because when I purchased my Polo brand new, I noticed the next day I had one too.

The yard I purchase it from was about 45 minutes from home, so I couldn't be bothered with even calling them, and just touched it up.

Being as it's on the edge, even the most basic of touch up jobs will be more than ample.

The paint is not oil based anymore (environental regs) which has got a lot to do with how SH*T it is.

My 2010 Polo is covered in monster stone chips, the paint is like cheese....

Is the paint really that soft? You might not feel like you pushed against the wiper with much force, but I assume you were holding the edge of the bonnet which is like a long lever so it was maybe 10 times harder than what you felt.
