Does the manual GTI have hill start assist? I've read somewhere that the brake pad on the system may need adjustment so it unlocks smoothly on taking off
Im not sure mate, did you take a tech out and show him the fault?
My noise has come back again and is louder between 1st and 2nd, also when its cold in the morning i notice it more.
At this point I'm waiting for it to get worse so its very noticeable for the tech at VW.

Hey Dan,
Didn't end up taking it in.
The minor rattle has slowly been disappearing and most days doesn't occur at all. Considering I'm at around 3,000 kms I might wear it in a tad more before I organise the tech to take a look at it. The day I wanted to take it in, there was no noise whatsoever so I thought ... why waste time
Hi guys,
Disc brakes have a caliper system which are non adjustable. The piston in the caliper moves out further as the pads wear making them auto adjusting. The rear hand brake is adustable, however this has nothing to do with the hydraulicly activated brake assist. The noise should get less as the pads wear in. If it doesnt I would take it back as there may be a sticky caliper slide.
