Cheers George! A little better than the VR, I was getting out of a 50L tank on 98ron when the VR was sold about 350kms a tank, she was really thirsty, this is just a little better

I get 10-11 if I drive around town in sport mode. 11-12 if I'm in sport mode out in country roads having fun. low 8 when driving in D mode, with start stop disabled, for morning commute along dual carriageway with traffic lights every so often. Had it dip below 6 for long motorway drives at 100kmh with two adults, two kids in car. Car is MY15 DSG Gti, done 8000km now, and I can see the economy has improved a touch since new, but it's not a big difference - likely more that I've calmed down and just drive it normally now!

ive done 15,000km in my 2015 1.8L polo GTI DSG and do mixed driving and the computer says i average 6.8L/100km taking it easy on long trips interstate i've gotten 680km out of a full tank.

it has no easy life either, on a fun day i get about 7.2L/100km with mixed driving

we all should complain the issue to the vw headquarter, it is false advertised and misleading. They advertised the car fuel consumption of 5.7l/100km

this was the reason i bought the polo gti because the fuel consumption figures look so impressive for 6 second performance car.

Surely it's just assumed knowledge that cars will pretty well never achieve their stated ADR fuel consumption, isn't it?
The only car I've ever seen consistently get below the stated claim is our TDI Polo, which does 3.8-4.2 L/100km in highway driving, but still, during mixed driving it'll get around 5.2 L/100km, when the stated claim is 4.7.
I don't think you should all complain – it won't do anything.

They don't advertise that the vehicle will get 5.7L/100 with *YOU* driving it. They advertise that it will get a specific fuel consumption under ADR 81/02.

I have the Gen 1 version of your engine in my 1450kg Skoda. It ADR tested at 6.7L/100. I average 6.6L/100 (mostly motorway driving) using 98ron and a bluefin remap. I regularly get down to 5.4L/100km on a 40km motorway run in the summer. It comes down to traffic & driving style - my wife uses significantly more fuel than I do due to her driving style. Strangely, point to point I'm usually quicker than her.

i just sold my 15 golf 90tsi and bought 15 polo gti.

    according to my observation

the fuel consumption for golf 90tsi from work back to my place was about 5.2-5.7/100 km, shown on the screen.
but for polo gti is about 7.0-7.4 for the same distance and same driving style. So to get 5.7, i think it's bit try hard.

Have you run it in yet? Mine took 5000km to come good and there was a noticeable drop again at 15000km.

Has anyone noticed what the difference between the MFD average is and the "real" average?
My Polo always achieves 0.1L/100km better than the MFD display but our Golf almost always achieves between 0.2-0.3L/100km worse than its MFD. I have kept records of every fill in the Golf through to its present 90,000km in 2.5 years and almost every time the long term average readout has been 5.3L/100km but the true calculated average is 5.52L/100km. My 6 week old Polo's first long term MFD average was 5.2L/100km but true calculation is 5.11L/100km and the second long term average is reading only 4.9L/100km at the moment after about 15 hours of driving. That's the same as the 4.9 official combined claim. The Golf is much better than its official 5.7 claim. Both cars get lots of highway work as well as city too. I've never noticed any difference in what the air-conditioner does (this is sunny QLD remember) but just driving on the highway in rain definitely makes about 0.2 difference and reasonable headwinds up to 0.5 difference. And the 120km drive between Toowoomba & Brisbane with an altitude change of 700m gives 4L/100km one way and 5.1L/100km the other in the Golf (and much the same in the Polo) - and that has been consistent in the at least 100 + trips done. That Toowoomba range buggers it lol. Oh, and the Golf is slightly lower geared than the Polo but definitely more go at any speed in spite of VW's identical 0-100 in 9.3 sec claims.
