Lol checked the oil lately that could make things noisy?

I had the oil light on after 1500kms.

Yeah i constantly check my oil and keep it topped up PITA , the noise when idling i believe to be tappet or injector noise .

If a rotary engine used as much oil as my VW it would be all over the news yet VW get away with it because its a piston engine , maybe a letter to the Editors of Wheels and motor magazine pointing out the oil issue would not go astray .

Guys - the noise you can hear from the engine is the direct injection. It is quite loud, especially so at idle. Some say it sounds like tappets, other say it sounds a bit like a diesel etc, but its the ticking from the direct injection firing.

Nothing to worry about. My Golf also does it as do the vast majority of the VW/Audi/Skoda engines.

I still believe a correctly worded letter , backed up signed by a number of Polo GTI owners that have issues with high oil usage , would not go astray in the eyes of VW headquarters or editors of various car magazines .

With all this talk of efficient low emission cars in todays politically correct world , surely some Goverment department would want to be made aware of HIGH OIL USAGE in any car .

I think the oil usage issue HAS been mentioned in either Wheels or Motor.

Evo in the uk had a long term polo GTI that drank oil, all that was said is that the "issue was rectified". That's the only magazine article I know of that has mentioned it but they still failed to address the numerous people that contacted them with the same issue.

Vw know of the problem and have done since this motor debuted, does anyone really think that after this many years, they will realistically do anything about it, especially seeing as this motor has likely seen the last vehicle model it will ever go in?
