    2012/2013 VW Polo/Golf reliability

    Hi

I am aware of the electrolysis/clutch disengaging issue of DSG transmission vehicles and have read many user experiences on various internet forums about the problem.

I am also aware of the recent recall which affected cars made between June 2008 and Sep 2011: Volkswagen Group Australia Pty Ltdā€”Polo, Golf, Golf Wagon, Golf Cabriolet, Jetta, Passat, and Caddy Vehicles

    My question is:

Assuming VW have fixed the issues in subsequent models, are there any owners of 2012-2013 VW Polo/Golf (both manual and auto) that have experienced the same issue (or other issues relating to poor quality control or unreliable parts)?

    Thanks

So it's probably too early to tell for me but I've had my 2013 built polo gti for 1200km now, DQ200 gearbox and CTHE engine. So far I've had no issues, oil has remained more or less stationary and I've never had any strange noises or shuddering from the gearbox. Time will tell if I got a good one, I bought the car hoping that the problems would have been fixed by now.

i have a my12.5 tsi w/DSG. will be one year old this wednesday and with 28k kms on the clock i've had no troubles at all (touch wood), no strange noises or shudders from dsg, havent even had the dash or fueld line rattles that others have had.... and just remember, people got to forums because of problems, not to say they dont have any. so there are probably more people without the problems than there are with... just some thing to keep in mind

ive have a 13.5 gti and aside from a few minor issues its all been smooth sailing. the 1st 1k kms i had a bit of soot on the rear which has gone. bit of oil usage in the first 1k. there were some weird squeaking noises from the brakes for the 1st 2500kms. my sound actuator is faulty but that doesnt really bother me too much, i just have to find the time to take it in.

    all in all im content.

If I remember correctly - the recall only applies to pre MY12.5 cars. So you're probably looking for answers from MY12.5+ owners.

I've had DSG issues, though I am not part of the recall, and I can't easily replicate for my dealer.

I've got a MY12.5 77TSI and it has been nearly flawless. I did start to have clutch slipping issues a few months ago; however, the dealership was fairly content in replacing them under warranty.

All manufacturer's have problems and unfortunately Volkswagen is going through a rough-patch of publicity in Australia due to a situation that (admittedly) they handled poorly. It will take time; however, they will redeem themselves sooner or later.

We have had a lot of Volkswagen's in our family and all of them have been very reliable cars.

Hope this helps in your decision!

I think my gf's polo gti is 12.5, has the stupid Bluetooth dash module. Has over 30k on it, been in 4 times for high oil consumption and that still isn't fixed, clutches are starting to slip, front right shock is leaking and still waiting for a replacement. A while back it had shuddering issues when driving steady...I forget what the fix for that was, possibly a faulty sensor, I do recall it took them two parts and two attempts. There has been something else replaced to but I forget what. There is always something wrong with it. I wouldn't touch anything with the twin charge motor or the 7spd dsg. I sold my 118tsi to get away from it.

I have a my13.5 polo gti ... Done 7000ks ... No issues except for a rattle inside coming from the rear and creaky door seals on uneven roads... Other than that its smooth sailing... Love the dsg and the turbo surge when it spools up!! Makes me smile every time .. Built quality is good, drive ability is great, sound system is good... Love the detroits and the panoramic sunroof... No regrets from me ...

Seems like the majority of MY12.5+ cars are doing well.
