I used to think I was anal-retentive until I started getting involved in car forums
Just on the phone to Volkswagen Customer Care now asking about what the process should be in relation to getting my car looked at for a third time as its coming back again as I think I mentioned on the last page of posts. Car has 125k on it now and was first done at approx 80k and then again at about 105k. They just said to take it back to the dealer again which I will do shortly.
I don't doubt the work that the dealer did on both occasions but I am wondering what would be causing it to continually stretch as the chance of having 2 faulty timing chains out of new stock from VW would be somewhat remote?
I'm not one to give up so I will be pushing VW to fix it again but i am wondering would this issue go away with an aftermarket timing chain as companies such as Febi make them also.
My Car(s): 2011 6R TSI Comfortline (Pepper Silver),
If you're in need of any 6n1 parts, odds are that I am going to have them (dismantling 2 at the moment)
My question is;
I have a MY13.5 77tsi, over 100k now, been flawless regarding the timing chain. What is the difference between my timing chain and say a MY11 77tsi timing chain that has issues?
Are they not using the revised timing chain kit that comes on the MY13+ on the Polos that are affected by the timing issue?

Good result in the end. Cost me $180, 2 year warranty.
Car drives bloody well again. I'm not sure if I'm that confident in the car's reliability longer term though.
Has anyone ever had issues with the turbo/supercharger? *touch wood*
Well, well here I am after a long break.
I hardly ever got the rattle, but my independent VW specialist mechanic said he noticed it on my last service on a start after draining the oil and said that could have been part of the problem until the pressure built up.
Now a couple of months later while the car was in getting some panel work done (I was tail ended) the whole thing has gone kersplat and after having the polo towed to a VW dealership and paying for a diagnosis I am now up for a whole new motor.
I am the only owner and have a pretty good service history with services around annually and the earlier ones done at a dealership but the later ones done at the independent with only 60+ ks on the clock.
Does anyone have any hints as how best to approach getting something done. The dealer is talking $10k to get repaired? But has said that they will try for goodwill from VW but are not hopeful.
thanks
Michael

Contact ACCC, You may have a case. It's not unreasonable to expect that the engine should last more than 60,000km.

Thanks Transporter, I think I am going to wait until I see what the dealer comes up with, and if it is not reasonable I will take it through ACCC/Fair Trade.
However, I am already writing a letter of demand in my head as I am not confident of an initial positive outcome.

Everyone getting paranoid over small rattle.
DONT FREAK OUT....nothing will probably happen.
BTW, using 98RON makes it rattle less
Sorry Bushman, in my case this has caused a cracked piston which has smashed its way through the engine and I always use 98 RON (except on the couple of times on road trips when it wasn't available). Very non-tech terms here...
I am still waiting on the full report and pricing from Norris VW and whether VWA will contribute in any way before I start talking with ACCC etc.
