Are the injectors noisey? Mate to be honest 260,000kms on a diesel is still a baby...
Hi,
I have a 2010 TDI with 260,000 kms on the clock, I'm in 2 minds whether to keep it or get rid of it and update.
My local mechanic told me to get rid of it as its properly overdue for injectors and i'd be looking at 6-7k for replace them.
Thoughts or ideas?
Thanks

With those kilometers on it, its not really worth anything now.
Might as well hang onto it, keep the maintenance up, and when something big does go, then maybe assess your options.
What he's quoted on injectors is a tad high, in all honesty. They're about $800ea from VW, although you could probably get them cheaper overseas. $6-7K would overhaul the entire fuel system. That's injectors, pump, and rail sensors, and maybe the two electric pumps if you're keen.
Nah there not noisey.. I was just wondering if anyone else has any issues on a polo with similar km's
Drive it until it dies.
Like Umai said it's not really worth much and any major maintenance item is going to cost you more than the value of the car.
So just do regular oil/filter changes and put some money aside for a new car in a year or 2.

I had a BKD 2.0tdi in an 06 Golf with 360k on the clock and only got rid of it because the wife wanted something newer or I would of kept it. I got 2k as a trade and regret selling it. Only concern was the clutch was about 90% worn and a dual mass fly wheel and clutch aren't cheap. In all that time it didn't cost me a cent beyond regular servicing that I did myself and a couple of timing belts. Hang on to it mate if you can handle the fact it's not brand new you'll get plenty of service from it yet!
