2010 Polo Drive Away Prices. Share what you ended up paying.

Gavs, how long ago did you place your order? Also, how much were on-roads? What was your drive-away price?

I'm paying full retail for mine, but then, that was the price I had to pay to get it this year... thanks to a broker.

If I would have had to wait for next year, I might have negotiated for less, but more likely, I would have waited to see how the competition will respond to the value these cars represent. Surely, by 2012, many other brands will add value, giving us lots of other options... (I've been waiting for 3 years for Mazda to add a Mazda2 MPS to their stable - a great handling car that would have made an excellent hot hatch. Maybe the success of this Polo GTI will provide Mazda with the impetus.)

The order was in december, so it was a while before all supply problems happened.

$35,500 drive away.

About those different on road costs between the states, where might I find a good resource to compare them?

Incidentally, I will have paid almost $1500 more than gavs for same specs (different colour), ordered March, arriving May..if my broker is accurate...

Unfortunately there is no good source that I've ever been able to find.
If you did into the workings of the Polo GTI Pricing Calculator spreadsheet that I made, that helps. (Linked in the first post of the Polo GTI prices thread).

The problem is that, every state and terriority have different costs. They change usually yearly.
And even worse, several of the states have onroad costs which depend on where the owner lives (as in post code) and even the drivers age and driving history. So even if you can find someone who has the exact same model and options as you (very rare), them having the exact same onroad prices as you is even less likely! Which makes comparing drive-away/on-road prices largely pointless

The biggest one is dealer delivery. Take for example, your vw dealer is next to the dock, therefore your freight cost will be much lower than a dealer in Oodnadatta obviously, this makes up the most variable component of the drive away price, the detail, pre-delivery software and work etc, that will be mch the same. Each state is different in regards to rego, but inside that state, rego will be the same.

That's not correct in relation to Rego gavs, even in your state that's not correct! hehe
VIC Roads uses the post code of where the vehicle will be garaged to determine the rego cost. Whilst the actual registration component is probably the same, the "Transport Accident Charge" and "Insurance Duty" are variable, based on post code.

In NSW the "Compulsary Third Party" insurance is separate to the Registration, so the rego is MOSTLY the same (as long as you are not registering it as a businses registration so you can claim GST etc).

There are more states with variables than not...

You then also have number plate selection and cost. You guys always list your options, but no one says the plate they got. For example, in VIC there is $464.40 diff between the standard and Euro plate last time I looked ($495 vs $30.60). Other states have higher and lower costs depending on selection.

In relation to the dealer delivery fees, funnily enough, they seem to have nothing to do with how close a dealer is to the shipping port!
