    2010 Polo 6R 1.2TSI - Engine Oil Light

    Hi All,

I recently did and oil change on the 2010 6R 1.2TSI - used 5w-30 3.7L of it (this is oil in specific - Nulon Full Synthetic Long Life Engine Oil - 5W-30, 6 Litre - Supercheap Auto) and a Ryco oil filter.

After a while and randomly the engine oil light comes one for a few seconds and goes off...happens at random times and sometimes doesn't happen at all.

I called up various VW service centres to make sure I used the correct amount of oil and they said 3.7L too, so I'm wondering what it might be?

PS the car idles and drives smoothly as per normal and seem completely normal, I checked and rechecked oil plug and filter for any gaps etc and it all seems good too.

    Any help would be great

Maybe have a look at the oil level sensor on the sump. Wiring or plug may be disturbed.

Maybe even the Oil pressure switch?

    Just guestimates for you.

Did you actually check the level on the dipstick? You didn't mention anything about that.

If level on stick is all good then look to the sensor or bonnet switch.

This is the only VW APPROVED Nulon oil

    https://www.nulon.com.au/products/Full_Synthetic_Engine_Oils/Full_Synthetic_5W-30_EURO_Engine_Oil

The difference is here and fillin details of car and the different oils are shown

A genuine VW filter is only about $20 for the Polo and far better quality
