You'd also need either a manual or a 6 speed wet-clutch DSG as well
Seeing as the Polo R and "rumoured" audi S1 will be running a 2.0l I was wondering what would really be involved in doing an engine swap on the Polo?
An s3/tt or golf r 2.0 would be a punchy unit in the 6r body (if traction wasn't an issue).
Im guessing custom mounts and a shed load of wiring would be the major hurdles?

And new suspension components to handle the extra weight hanging over the front axle and you would have to do a fair bit of weight reduction / weight distribution over the car otherwise all the weight will be at the front.
Another thing the 2.0L engines use 6 speed dsg's which i think are slightly bigger (because of the mulitplate wet clutches) and they also use different mounting positions.
Would be epic to see but a mammoth task to do. Would probably be easier getting a Polo R LHD model from Europe and put RHD dashboard and rack and pinion in...
Or just get a permit to drive a LHD vehicle
Would it be road legal? Or just a track car?
Obviously it can be done but Apart from all the conversion issues. finding the right suspension parts and the cost all aside Traction would be a issue if trying to push more power. In standard form the extra weight would compensate for getting down the extra power. If you then want to chase more power you will have dramas. The 2l can be modded to get a lot bigger numbers then the 1.4l TC and you just can't fit the wide wheels you need to handle the power under the polo unless you make the guards wider.
And at the end of the day the cost of doing it all legally would get you a golf with all the bells and whistle plus a lot of go fast/ handling mods
Won't work, the drivetrain geometry would be all wrong. The CAV engine had a fair bit of tweaking to get it to fit in the polo.
As pointed out, you need to run the 6 speed box in either dsg or manual. The weight penalty alone (hence the use of the dq200 dsg) is unfeasible.
Nice thought but if you want to chase that kind of power etc, I'd be first looking at stroking out the 1.4 first, if possible...

Now that would not be run of the mill. And if done properly would potentially solve the oil issue. Would need a whole new engine management system though as I don't think the current ECU could be tuned that much considering it needs bench tuning just for a simple remap. Wonder if there's a kit or maybe just shorter rods and different pistons?
The ecu could be tuned easily enough and the dq200 with some software tweaking could quite happily handle more torque. The issue would be gettin someone to take the plunge first....
