Hope you realise all Golf models (and some others) still come out of Wolfsburg, Germany...

It's not as if VW has been left behind. And for the record the GTI's and R's were never the best performing cars either. What they are the best at and why everybody loves them is because they are the best all rounder.

Excellent performance, handling and quality/luxury for a excellent price.

They summarise the best of all the other leading brands but they are a long way from been called "The Best".

Also did you try restarting your car? Most of the time this works and you can drive it to the side of the road
Yep she tried several restarts but to no avail, as for updates we have no idea, it'll get to VW service from the towing companies holding yard tomorrow.

    Update:

Service manager said it was a software issue and have updated it and is driving well but they're still testing it. Next day phoned to say they're not completely happy so are replacing mechatronics, parts coming from Germany.

In the mean time we're driving a highline mk7 Golf, very very nice drive.

Phone VW assist and an RACQ serviceman arrives to discover the battery terminal connectors weren't tightened, just sitting there WTF!!!

He tightened them at all was well

My wife them drives off to meet our landlord, once stopped car won't start AGAIN !!!

Battery has just been tested by RACQ and appears to be fine.

Would the upgrade from RCD310 to RCD510 (just this morning) have anything to do with the car not starting?

Hoe much power is being used if BT streaming while the engine is off?

When you say "Wont start" What exactly happens.

EG car is totally dead No dash lights nothing

Car goes to start dash lights are on but starter doesn't make a noise

Dash lights are on and starter clicks away but doesnt turn engine.

A radio can flatten a battery in a few hours usually I can do updates on Satnav which take an hour without probs and DRL are on during that time as well.

Wouldnt like to try 2 hours though

If battery was flat when he tightened terminals I would have gone for an hours drive to get it up a bit as a short drive wont charge it enough.

Radio won't drain a polo battery because the car automatically shuts off ancillaries that are running without the engine running after a period o time to save the battery.
