1 Month old Polo, won't move in drive WTF !!!

As the title reads, 1 month old Polo, on way home from Brisbane to the Gold Coast, stopped at red light (as you do lol), light turns green and nothing. in drive but no motion, engine is working fine, what do you think?

Haha I will agree he made very good points thought out the video. Pretty much 95% spot on - especially when he says VW couldn't give a sh*t about you as an owner.

But the bit with the Mazda 3 umm no. Last time I drove the Mazda 3 (2011), the pathetic 2L auto couldn't even pull me and I only weigh 68kg - it went like a absolute dog.

Sorry but my 1.2L polo shi*ts all over it. Also seriously Mazda, putting "rear view mirror" and "left foot footrest" as features and power mirrors optional is a pretty poor way to sell a product, doesn't instil much value for money.

Running very refined 1990's tech to say its reliable is not my way of buying a quality car.

Also to the OP any chance the 37g7 update (which contains previous updates) has been done? Gavs mentioned before that new models still don't receive the service campaigns from the factory - which really is just pathetic! I had some false neutrals (3) before the update and none after so...

Also did you try restarting your car? Most of the time this works and you can drive it to the side of the road

That makes me feel both worried and embarrassed to be a VW owner, VW could have handled their customers mechanical issues sooooo much better.

I'm only a recent VW convert as of two-three years, I was so excited about owning one I talked my wife into buying a second hand mk5 Golf, shortly after that I bought a mk5 Golf too.

I had some issues with mine, most of which were covered by statutory warranty as I bought it from a dealer, but the most expensive issue happened out of warranty (transmission, non DSG), and as quite a few components had been replaced (radiator, air con compressor, cruise control, drive shaft etc) I decided to keep it as the engine has relatively low Km's and everything was almost new lol.

My wives Golf developed a transmission (non DSG too) issue not long after, cost $2500 but later she didn't feel quite right with the car, the specialist was less than helpful, she'd by now lost confidence in the car and sold her beloved Golf.

Not completely burned she recently gave VW another chance by buying the new Polo and four weeks later this has happened.

What would you do if you were in her predicament?

Guess it depends where your priorities lay.

If your want a reliable car and don't mind paying $24,000 for a 1989 motor and a sloppy cvt with incredibly boring and downright ugly styling - get a Toyota Corolla. Seriously it's a pure a - b car. It's reliability is its best (and only) selling point.

Me on the other hand, I'm mechanically minded so any problems my car throws up I can handle quite well. Personally I like the challenge and yes I have had a few problems with my polo but nothing that would want me to change. As someone once told me owning a VW is a very love-hate relationship. I hate a new car having this amount of problems but when I take it into the mountains, slam it in sports and wind it up to 100 effortlessly it makes me smile and personally for me that's enough. I rather pay for tech that hasn't has its fair share of real world testing but is brand spanking new than old tech, but that's just me.

I will say this though I won't be getting a dry clutch DSG again for a very long time! I had serious doubts about the reliability of all dry clutch DSG's and I was right. I was originally was looking at a ford fiesta with the power shift DSG and I'm glad I stayed away because it's got problems as well.

The new golfs DSG is much more refined and programmed way better - like the revs start at 900rpm when taking of in first so that it slips less and clamps faster. I'm sure they will get it right eventually but until then it's the 6sp wet clutch for me

I hear you, I still love my Golf, hence what I've done to mine:

To me a VW has charisma, and that reflects their owners charisma. where a Toyota Corolla doesn't have any charisma ... in my opinion.

Not saying they're a bad car at all btw, they are indeed a world car, as should the Golf and Polo be, lift your game/customer service VW !!!

Well now that Ford have shifted their performance models designing / manufacturing to Germany VW has threats from all corners:

Opel, Ford (Fiesta ST and Focus ST), Renault Clio RS (I've heard a manual will arrive 2015), Alfa Romeo MiTo / Giulietta QV, etc so VW has to lift their game full stop their reliability and poor PR wound is starting to turn gangrenous on them.
